I was wondering which brake caliper is physically bigger, the Stoptech ST-40 that Saleen, Roush and others use or the standard GT500 Brembo?

The stoptech is bigger compared to the brembo caliper on the gt500. But brembo has other kits like the Gran turismo kit which is similar to the stoptech. I would personally check the piston size to compare.

I am almost certain that the stoptech is slightly larger than the brembo kit... I'm assuming you're talking about the saleen kit and the gt500 kit, correct?

At one point i had the template for both of them and the Stoptech was slightly taller but they are very similar in size, you should be able to get the templates from their websites.

The saleen is the same as stoptech. they make 14 and 15 brake setups you can get either one with a 4-piston or a 6-piston. You can also get them with 1 pc or 2pc rotors.

I have the Gran Turismo Brembos on my car. It's a 4 piston caliper that's slightly smaller to the GT500 Brembo, and considerably smaller than the stoptech 6 piston calipers. This is the physical size. I don't know the piston comparisons. My calipers are "radial mount" compared with spindle mount for the GT500 calipers. I think the stoptech are radial mount as well.

The reason I ask is that I had a Stoptech/Saleen 4 piston setup that wouldn't clear my 20's w/o a 5mm spacer and I would rather not use a spacer if I could help it.

The Brembo Gran Turismo kit gave me nearly a 1/2 inch of clearence between the caliper and wheel. The offset of the rotor is different and the caliper sits a little further back. I'm confident this setup would clear a lot of wheels that the GT500 calipers won't.
