The house is coming along great. I'm wondering though, the place you live now, is it furnished or do you have a crap load of furniture shopping to do?

We have about 90% of the furniture we need here in the rental house. So, at least we don't have to mess with that.

I really don't want to jinx anything, but what exactly keeps those rocks from falling down that hill? Is it the sheer weight of them? I mean, I doubt you have to worry about landslides with all the rain we get out here, but I am curious.

He dug a big hole into the hill, and then set the rocks into it. I suppose if we got a really hard steady rain someday, it might cause a problem. I guess time will tell.

Friday was a milestone day for us. With the exception of a handful of minor details which the builder will address in the next few days, the main construction of the house is done! We have made the final payment and officially taken possession of the house! WOOHOO! This clears the way to get the flooring started next week, and then the countertop granite after that. Our hope is to move into the house within the next 30 days (or less).

And while all this 11th hour work was going on inside, the work in the backyard keeps progressing steadily.

They installed the drainage system behind the seat wall.

Looks wonderful Don! I'm a sucker for a nice waterfall and grill, that's definitely turning out to be a great back yard.

The plans for today include more "sad" stuff (as pieperz06 might say). I have a couple more lights to install and I need to balance a few fans. And if the sun decides to show up in the next couple hours, I want to pressure wash the front porch and driveway, so I can apply a concrete sealer later this afternoon. But it needs to be completely dry, and overcast skies don't help.

This week begins with the installation of the flooring. The hardwood installer arrived first, and expects to be done in about 3 days. The tile installer will start tomorrow, and again should be done in 3 days or so. The carpet is scheduled for next week.

Also, work in the backyard continued. The “Iron Mountain” flagstone was delivered. Iron Mountain is a dark charcoal colored slate-type rock. It will be used on the barbecue (or the “Man-e-cue” as my son-in-law called it), as well as on the fire pit. Cutting and fitting it is quite labor intensive.

Wood floors ready to get started.
