Has anyone running a TVS or similar PD Supercharger tried the GT500 front drag springs on their standard GT?

The reason for the question is that the additional weight of a TVS unit over the axle line causes the front factory springs to settle about 1/2 inch or so already. I cannot afford to go any lower than 1.0" total from the current height on the front or the car will drag in and out of the driveway.

It was suggested in theory that the BMR GT500 front Drag springs on a stock GT with a TVS would only lower the front about 1" from its current static measured curb height.

Can anyone confirm this in an actual real life application they have this setup on? If so how much drop was measures before to after?

I HATE MY DRIVEWAY APRON!!!!! ARGH!!!

DYLAN OR KELLY ROM BMR PLEASE CHIME IN AS WELL. THANKS!

I wrapped the top and bottom coil of my front springs with heater hose and it brought the ride height in the front up about a half inch. With that and the turbo kit up front, my car sits as high as it did with the eibach pro kits with the BMR drag springs on it now. Granted it's not a 500 and it's not the 100+ lbs of a PD blower, but it's something you could try.

I have the stupid low Cobra Jet RA springs with a whipple up front. I scrape in and out of my driveway every time. I've worn two holes through the bottom of my urethane bumper/spoiler but you can't see them. I don't even worry about it anymore.

Hmmm...Now that's being resourceful. Never thought of that. I'll take that under advisement if I don;t find a defined answer. The only other option is to buy teh FRPP 1' drops for the front or the new Hurst spring set and use those which are 1" drop.

Thanks

You can install the GT500 springs if you want, they should bring the front end up over the GT springs. However, I can't really tell you where the ride height will be. The GT500s are still a little heavier in the nose than Coyote cars and we really don't have many customers that do this.

I wish I had a better answer for you, but we just don't have enough data to conclusively tell you exactly what will happen when you install those springs.

Wanting to go down but no more than an inch. Already have the 1.5" Drags on the back. Are the BMR front DR's stiffer than the stock DR's? Should I look at buying a 1" drop front progressive spring like the new Hurst that has a 133-170 lb/inch rating? Or maybe the FRPP 1" springs that they never wish to give any data on with regard to compression?

Then again how is load (weight) of the car calculated with regard to being on the car sitting still? Does it have to do with compression rating or is it more about height or something else?

Thanks.

It may take some trial and error to get the exact spring you want.

The BMR GT500 Spec springs could work, but, there is not going to be any guarantee. I have had some people use the BMR GT500 Spec springs on their TVS Coyote cars, and I believe they stated their drops were in the .75" range.

As for "DRs" - what are you referring to?

The load rating works like this - say the spring at ride height, installed, measures 7" tall. This is called the installed height of the spring - as it sits with the car sitting with the weight on the tires. Free height may be 10" (with spring on a work bench).

The free height of a spring needs to usually be equal to or more than the what the spring measures once it is installed on the strut....to ensure it remains compressed or loaded a slight bit when the wheels and tires hang from the car.

Anyways, for the GT and GT500....we have different loads at a specific compressed heights based on the weight of the cars.

Example:
our GT500 springs take 767lbs of load to compress them to 7.5"
our GT springs take 682lbs of load to compress them to 7.5"

Both of those springs are 165lb/in linear.

I will be able to tell you next week how they do on a tvs 13' car. I was wanting about 1/2" lift over the 13'cj springs and was told to go with the normal drag springs. Put them on last week and i am lower now in the front than the cj springs. So i am about to order a set of gt500 drag fronts to try and see how much they raise the car up. With a 28" tire on the back and 26" tire on the front,my car just has to much rake for my liking.

Man that would be awesome. Thanks as well for the 411 on the BMR drag spring for the standard GT. I know that the Roush springs (1.25"R 1.00"F) I could get in and out of my driveway barely. And that was with the same TVS kit on that car. BTW do you still have the cobra jet springs and how low did they drop they front? I run a 27" up front and only run the 28 DR at the track. I'm on 27's all around (07GT500 standard tire sizes) otherwise.

13 3/4" from the center of the front hub to the bottom of the fender in the center is where the bmr drag gt springs set at with my car weight around 3650. The cj's were 14 1/4" measuring the same spot. I do have strange struts with gt500 mounts also if that makes any difference. Done got rid of the cj springs.

Regardless it gives me an idea of the difference between the two. And undoubtedly I don't want to go with the BMR standard GT drag springs for sure. I will measure what my stock ride height is tonight center of hub to fender on both sides and post hat up as well for a reference. Look forward to hearing what the GT500 D springs do for you. Thanks again for taking the time to help.
