Don't rightly know for sure, but what I do know is you get what you pay for.

So really, the only CAI's worth having will require a tuner? Would a throttle body change also be called for? Injectors?

Sorry, but I'm a newb to the modular motor system, my last daily for seven years had a 390 and a 4bbl carb.

You dont need a TB, and you dont need injectors unless you start putting down some real power..

You're best bet by far is to go with a cai/tuner/tune combo. It will give you the most bang for your buck power wise and $$ wise. I'd suggest a c&l, jlt, or steeda cai with a sct tuner. You don't need or want an aftermarket tb. They can be a real pain in the ass to get tuned and the stocker isn't a restriction till 500+hp. You also wont ned injectors unless you go with a form of forced induction or a lot of NOS.

I bought a used C&L street cai for $150 and bought a "no tune" insert from C&L for $32. I'm on a tight budget right now, but will eventually get a tuner and pull the insert for more power. I did notice a difference in performance and it gives your car a more aggressive sound when you step on it. I recommend something like this if money is tight. That way you have a little more flexibility down the road. Also I think it would be easier to sell a cai if you decide to go with FI later on. btw The C&L Racer wont take the "no tune" insert. They have a few other intakes like the Airaid that don't need a tune.

your best bet is to just hang tight and keep your eye in the for sale section on here they have really good deals all the time , probably could pick up a good used jlt , c&l , ect for 80-100 bucks then get the tuner from bbr , livernois , ect.

the tuner will be a great investment believe me i can't name a single person who stuck with just a intake ...... this can also be used to adjust tire height , gear swaps , ect. so don't think of it as 300 extra for the intake to work

imo a tuner/programmer is like a crescent wrench it can be used for multiple things varying from a wrench , to a specialty tool for rounding points on bolts , to a hammer lmao
