Recently bought a used motor and the guy said that some comp cam mutha thumprs were installed under 10k miles before the part out. The numbers engraved are 115 836-17 022 and on the other 115 671 • • 17CC or 1766 and then 021 I tried calling compcams and they said the numbers engraved should start with a 127 and AI tells me they are comp can mutha thumprs. Does anyone know what cams these are?

Everything I have seen for Comp, they write the part numbers on the cam snout like in the attached pic.

Those numbers you provided seem oddly like a Ford factory casting number but the only real way to check is to measure lobe lift.

For what it’s worth, I asked ChatGPT about the part number and for me it said it was a factory ford cam. YMMV

i have mutha thumpers and as stockish said , comp has theres on the ends and the numbers start 127.. mine did...

if they were installed , then a few things,,
first the cmdp must be installed or made,
phaser limiters or lock outs will be in the phasers,
so if thats done then maybe , but the numbers dont make sense ,
and tbh , it sounds like he was trying to make it seem like a great deal on the motor,,
but ya never know right?

I thought the factory 3 valve cams were easily identified because the powder metal lobes are pressed on the steel shaft.
