damn, I wish I had that kind of money at 20. Congrats on the car, I love it. :beerdrink:

Im not made of money, i just know how to save where/when i can i dont buy alot of things I dont need. lol
The $8000 i put down was $5300 from my trade in and the other 2700 I had been saving.
I just recently got a raise and the raise almost covers my half of the monthly payment.

Thanks everyone, i LOVE it, only thing im getting use to is the shifter, my mustang was a '00 and had a dumb shifter, where it wouldnt find 3rd and didnt snap into the middle, this one does so its taking some getting use to lol

Awesome car! I just turned 21 and recently purchased an 11" gt and just installed a procharger on it. I was debating on a Shelby but went with this route.. I would be way to scared to even drive the Shelby, wouldn't want anything at all to happen to it! Not that i do my 5.0 either! But congrats!!

Congrats on the GT Redfire05, Im driving the shelby the past few days, the dealer said they need a breakin period of about 200miles before the supercharger will start to work... Is this true?

Congrats man. Just throw a pulley and tune on there and wake her up! I had my 04 cobra when I was 19 and it was a blast but now I bought this 07 GT and I put down 10k cash and now I'm only 20! I have to say this S197 platform is the way to go! Good luck with it and be safe!

The supercharger will work whenever. But they probably just want you to take it easy for the first few hundred miles to get the car broken in.

But just take it easy and get used to the car, when you start getting comfortable with the car and you start thinking oh I can do this is when shit happens, just respect the power!

thats when you're supposed to tell them that if it "doesnt work" then they need to connect the belt before you drive it off the lot.

Thank you. As for what the dealer told you, just give the car a little bit of gas I'm sure the car will speak for itself and tell u differently :) . I don't know where they come up with some of their crap

the belt is hooked up, and i have given it gas, 2 people at the dealer said that its built into the tune or something like that, she said they use to not even hook the belt up till u had 200 miles on it but now ford programmed it it into the tune to keep the supercharger from working till you hit 200miles, im at 150miles now so if it doesnt work in 50more im heading back to the dealer.

That sucks, I've never heard of them doing anything like that from the factory. If that was the case 200 miles would come quick for me just to hear that whine occasionly

they sell you the car with a supercharger but the belt is not hooked up??? and you believe that?

I was being sarcastic about the "tell them to hook the belt up" comment. When you buy the car, you are supposed to give it around 500 miles of break in time especially since you are force feeding air into the new engine. What that usually entails is you not taking the car over around 4000-4500RPM's for the duration of the break in period. That is with all new performance engines though, not just the GT500. For you to assume that they would "turn the supercharger off" for 200 miles and then it magically come on after that duration is ubsurd. You need to find yourself a new dealer man.:thud:

the dealer is not lying. I have read from several shelby forums actually the the supercharger doesnt "function normally" til it has 300-500 miles on it. I also read this in some magazines when they tested the 05-09 gt500s. BTW, congrats on gt500. I honestly wish i would have chosen the gt500 instead of the Saleen just because the motor. but when it comes to looks, ill take my Saleen :). BTW im 21 too. Have fun dude and dont be stupid with it.

so you're telling me that the PCM has been tuned to basically be in supercharged limp mode for 500 miles then magically decides it's legs arent broken and runs great??? And this requires no PCM flash of any sort from the dealer? Sounds a little fishy to me. I've never heard anything about this from any GT500 owner and I know a few.

i have driven a few new gt-500's(read less then 100 miles on them) and all of them built boost, or at least the boost gauge moved in to solid boost on its gauge.
