Alright. I've made it to the track a few times this year, and I it seems to happen after I launch when the car spins (i'm on dr's) and as soon as the car start to recover it shuts down for a moment and takes off again all while i'm still at WOT. This all happen while in first gear of course cause my car doesn't have the balls to spin in 2nd gear.

I brought the lap top along to data log this past friday and the first couple passes it bogged but no issues. On the Last pass I didn't get to data log cause I was one of the first cars to run after a clean up and had just enough time to get my helmet on but on this run I decided I would launch around 5500 and ride it out since the track had been better than previous outtings. Low and behold it shuts down again.

Alittle more history 2 years ago the car would trap 107-108 consistently in cool weather and 106-107 in the summer with stock 17's all the way around with DR's. I let the car sit for several months last summer killing the battery completely (wouldn't even take a charge) then added the 17x4.5 racestars up front with 15's out back and figured if anything the car would gain a little mph but certainly not lose any especially since the car is cutting nearly the same 60's. I finally make it back to the track and the car was trapped 102-103 so I reloaded the tune, I went through a couple tanks of fuel, new fuel filter and the cool weather came along it was trapping 103-104 all while my 60's were roughly the same if not slightly worst than before. Last friday the car finally went 105-106 but it just seems odd to me and i'm not sure if both issues could be related or not being the car ran great before with what little is done.

I apologize for all the reading but i'm tired of racking my brain over a near stock vehicle. Any thoughts on any of this? Maybe i'm worrying over nothing? Anyway I wanted to see if anybody else has had any similar issues.

The exact mods to the car are VMP mail order tune, pypes off road x-pipe, pypes m.m.s., 4.10's, 275-50-15 M/T's, che k-member brace with torque limiters, BMR relocation brackets, MGW shifter....still on stock airbox with paper filter.

how much fuel was in the car when this occured, it sounds like it could be fuel wash too. If your under a 1/4 tank on a hard launch when the weight transfers back the fuel will slosh in the tank and run away from the pumps if its too low it will starve and hick up untill the fuel levels back and the pumps can feed. Seen and experienced it myself more than once.

+1. That's my guess too. Same thing happened to me until I realized I had to have at least 1/4 tank of fuel.

Did you keep the same size tire? If you went taller that could slow you down

The past few trips out there I was at or just under 1/4 tank (not intentionally). I've raced other mustangs (older) with less gas and had no issues so I guess I never put much thought towards that but it makes sense, especially being that it doesn't happen when the car bogs. I plan to head back out on the 25th so we shall see.

As far as tire height goes, the 17's wore 315-35's (25.68" tall) and current tires are 275-50-15 (25.83" tall) both M/T's so the change in height was minimal.
