Car runs poorly when I get down around 1/4 tank of gas?

Thanks Midlife. Not talking about my Mustang but of all the cars I've driven I've only had one car's pump go out. That was on my wife's 1979 VW Convertible. Even then it was intermittent and had plenty of time to get to a mechanic.

These pumps do not need to be submerged to cool, period. The fuel hat is on the top of the tank and the pump(s) (depending on the model) is right below the top of the hat. If the pumps required external cooling, it would be a pretty piss-poor design on Ford's part.

Anyone had similar symptoms on a hard right hard turn? Because I experienced that today twice, on an almost full tank, only on a couple hard (read: highway offramp) sweeping right turns.
