I've been looking into buying racing shoes for years with no luck :-(...but with a size 16 to 17 wide (depending on the manufacturer) I think I may big out of luck.

But seriously, made to measure driving shoes are probably going to be your only option...

Just don't expect them to be cheap!

I got a pair of Sparco driving shoes from O G racing and absolutely love them. Not only are they great for racing and driving (you can feel the pedals a lot better), they are honestly the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn.

Some of the guys I race with wear boat shoes for the soft sole and pedal feel. If you have trouble finding driving shoes that fit, you might want to try those out.

I think I will go with simpson's low top again, anyone here has any of their shoes that can compare with say a Nike sneaker and see if the match sizing?

I have to order online and deliver overseas so I want to order the most correct size I can, thanks.

Interesting topic, I was curious of the same thing. I was going to try and practice heel toeing back home over spring break, but I quickly realized that my 12 Wide shoe made that practically impossible. When I get a chance i'll have to check these out

If I don't have my racing shoes handy, I always have my docksiders on. Tried running shoes, cross trainers and tennis shoes - might as well have concrete slabs attached. Nothing feels better than the racing shoe, but the docksiders come in at a close 2nd.

It's all about the "feel" on the pedals.

Oh and practicing rev matching every day to/from work.

I have settled on Minnetonka moccasins with a two-layer leather sole. They are more like house-slippers than hiking shoes, but they do give the "feel" of what is going on down there. They offer a "driving shoe" that doesn't look all that good to me.

This is something that I've often wondered. Not to derail the thread. I wear a 15 and I find it hard to hunt down a pair of driving shoes and I've been under the impression that they help you he more pedal feel and like was mentioned before, heel toe better. Does anyone know who makes driving shoes that big?

RJS came up in our regional discussion regarding larger sizes for racing type shoes.

Couple of links:

*I'm sure there are other manufacturers out there with a wide range of prices and selection. RJS does meet the SFI 3.3/5 Fire Rated rating.

For heel-toeing I bought the huge accel pedal from ultimate so I do not have a problem there, is huge! lol.

The other day went to the track with the sebring's the first time, and used to simpson they felt to stiff for me.

Also I have a bad habit on how I heel and toe. I am more a pinky-toe kind of braker, lol.
Do you have the link to the oversize gas pedal?

I have used some Simpson racing shoes and i loved them but now i am thinking about trying some Adidas adiRacers or their Porsche Design shoes. Heck even those mustang shoes look sweet.

You gotta rock the pumas with the rolled heel! They give you the best comfort and make it easier to switch between pedals.
