So I finally got a chance to go back over the car with some new compound/polish with the PC.
1. you don't realize how many body lines a car has until you start really working with a PC (IMO) hah.
2. If you don't use a PC on a regular basis for some time, you realize quickly the lack of proficiency you have.

Anyways, got the compound done, and polish....went and grabbed the Chemical Guys Black Light.
I've never used it so I was curious how I was going to like it.

GREAT stuff.
Smelled good (not a huge factor...but still), went on very easily and came off VERY easily. I put it on the whole car with a white pad (no pressure and about 2.5-3 on the PC) and wiped off with a rag as easily as if I was just drying the car.
NICE deep shine IMO.
I'm going to wash the car again some time this week and put another layer on then some Poor Boys natty blue.

Once I do this, I'll get some pictures...but I'm sold. Love the stuff.

Probably one of the easiest products to work with that I've bought so far.

is this sealant?

Someone had suggested I use it as a sealant, but in looking at it's description I only see where the it suggests using the V7 as a sealant

Also, the description also says that the Black Light is also anti-static and from looking at all the debris on the car (stupid neighbor mowed her yard yesterday :asshat:) I'm a little curious about that part.

We'll see though. I'll post some pictures up when I get done...hopefully the first part of this week.

hha. speaking of which.. I just used black light on my friend's new car last night... I, personally don't really care for it, but I know a lot of people out there that love the formula.

Ignore the photoshop, but check out the reflections on the body panels.

Black Light is a sealant with a glaze/filler component. It is meant to be topped with V07 which is a new wipe on, walk away sealant.

Another similar set of products is Optimum Poli Seal / Opti Seal.

Out of curiosity, what don't you like about it.
Each his/her own and if you don't like it, it's cool....just curious.

Well, I was told the insanely hyped up story about it... But the longevity of the wax is fairly short... It does give a deep wet look on black cars though. :hi:

I gotta say I'm very impressed with the Meguiars Microfiber Correction system. My wife got me the kit for Christmas that I asked for. I don't use the wax. Just the correction product and the matching microfiber pad on my Porter Cable. The car is not my DD so the finish is pretty much perfect. About once a year I need to buff out those pesky light stray marks that pop up on the finish that you really can only see under direct sunlight. I was using 3M Finesse It II before and it worked great but made a powdery mess. The Meguiars system works just as good if not better with little mess. If you have a pretty decent finish with only light swirls the Meguiars correction compound is the friggin bomb. I'm very impressed. They seemed to have nailed getting just the right amount of abrasiveness to remove light stray marks or swirls with very little effort while not creating new ones in the process. To finish the job I've been topping it off with Wolfgang Sealant 3.0. Easy on and off. Impressed with the shine.

But to the OP, glad you mentioned Blacklight. I'm a Chemical Guys fan and use their detail sprays for the bike and car and chrome polish for my Harley. Good stuff. I'm going to try the Blacklight and the V7 spray down the road and see how I like it. I would like to see a pic of your car when it's cleaned up.

I agree with this. s197gt07 let me try some of his and it looked amazing and was super easy to use, but it did wear off real fast compared to other products.

With you guys applying BL and saying it does not last as long, are you applying it to a bare surface like you would with all sealants? I mean, bare, not even a surface with polishing oils. The car was given an alcohol bath before applying?

If you're not, you are ruining the bond and any sealant, i.e. Poli Seal, Black Light, BFWD etc, will have a diminished life if this rule isn't adhered to.

We used CG Citrus wash before application. The paint was squeaky clean. Maybe I am just used to how long stuff like Klasse tends to last.

I've been noticing about 3 months with BL/V07.

Where a high concentration of citrus wash does do the job, I'm anal and still do the alcohol to ensure its all stripped.
