I'm a big fan of JBA for a budget. If you're going to go through all that work why not go Stainless so they always look nice? Also they use a clamp style connector, which is a big plus for me, and they fit very good. If I weren't going to spend the money for Kooks or ARH, JBA is the only header I would consider.

They look similar. When Pypes receives their headers from china they QC them (so they claim) before they ship to customers/vendors. Alot of people have cried about the fit/finish of Pypes products. Personally I had no issues with my header install, and no leaks. They have been on the car for about 6 years now. I'm not sure of the level of QC you'll get from an ebay vendor. Like anything, you get what you pay for.

I had JBA ceramic coated headers, it started peeling off after 6 months. Fit was good except the pass. side was hitting the stock k-member all the time. Also these longer style headers is what I believe causes trumpetting.

I honestly don't like the slip and clamp styles, esp. if you dont have a lift and doing the work on the ground its a PITA to service/work on them.

I have OBX Stainless headers and they were cheap as can be. IIRC they were $500 for headers plus 2 midpipes (one with resonators, one without) .Work great for me. Install was very simple - which is the opposite of what I was expecting. The steering shaft didn't need to come off or anything. Just jack the motor up to allow some movement.

Yeah. I've just messed with the bare stainless ones. Been all positive for me. Good luck though, I haven't heard of anyone using these. Maybe see if they've sold many of those and see if you can get into contact with them through Ebay.

I've installed Pypes long tubes on 3 different S197s including mine. Fitment was excellent on each. However the OP ebay link headers aren't labelled as Pypes so it's a gamble.

I emailed them about what midpipe fits and their answer was pretty much that they've never installed this and all they do is ship out prepackaged items to customers. And told me to have a professional to take a look at it.

Yea I wouldn't risk it.
Once you're knee deep in a header install and it doesn't fit you're going to beat your head into the ground.

Pypes won't sell me their lt legs. Says I can't convert my current pypes x-pipe to work with the LTs even their LTs with my o/r x-pipe. Says it's shorter....anyone know if this is true ?

It's more upsetting when you actually paid for a "name" brand and still not fit quite right....had this experience with Mac and JBA stuff. Not saying they fit bad but not great either.

Did you have the JBA silver ceramic, or the JBA titanium ceramic ? I have the titanium ceramic version LT's....and the finish on em appears to be battleship grey. The finish has lasted 3 years now. The titanium ceramic finish is good for another 100 F vs silver ceramic. Also installed was JBA high flow catted H. No trumpeting, but when used with my previously installed FRPP FRS-500 mufflers....way too loud, and bad drone @ 1900 rpm. The story I got was the cats were causing all the trbl, not the lt's. A pair of pypes SS M80's were welded in, just b4 the rear axle. Problems solved.

I think mine were the ceramic coated...not Ti.

I went from o/r to catted jba cats as well in order to pass inspection. Yes the cats helped but not the trumpetting.

From what I recall, pypes is a kooks knockoff. And kooks are supposedly the best design LT for s197 from a few articles I read. So I got the pypes for a good deal on black friday.
Passenger side wouldnt go in, wouldnt even bolt up.

Called pypes, and they were aware of the issue. Supposedly a jig was off. They had a shelf of passenger sides waiting for calls lol. They had a new LT shipped to me that day, at my door in a few days. Didnt even have to send old one back. Fit was perfect, 3 years now no leaks. Reused my OEM gaskets. Good fit, good customer service.
