please stay away from any type of drive through car wash, that's how you scratch everything

I have the same wheels in my room brand new still in box.. I see all the threads about how the black chrome isnt one of the best, but i love the way it looks.

How long was it until yours started chipping away, if so do you have any photos. I dont wanna put wheels on then a few months or years have them look like shit.

For my 1995 Mustang with Black Bullits I use the soap i use to wash my car with, on the wheels and then a little simple green, and rinse with water. They've held up for about 5 years now and still look brand new every wash. I hope when i put the black chrome fr500s on the 2007 they still look good every wash.

Oh man...automated car wash FTL. Just try and make sure anytime the wheels get wet you clean them. Brake dust becomes very acidic after H2O is introduced to it. And go get this stuff for godsakes.

Jesus... Thats a reall eye-sore! Where did you purchase the wheels from? Mine are form CruzinConcepts. If that was happening to my wheels id be on the phone ASAP complaining. I sure hope whenever i put some rubber on them that a few months or years down the road they don't do that. Now im debating on selling mine and going for some Reg. Chrome FR500s

shit.... now im nervous about putting mine on. I mean i'd only use them for the Spring/Summer use and then throw my stocks on while it sits for the winter. I dont use any wheel cleaners so i dont see why they would chip or sratch up real bad.

Did yours chip up like that from any particular reason?

Why on fucking Earth would you take such a delicate wheel and go through a car wash?????? It says on the box to use just soap and water and HAND WASH them!!!!

I have had my black chrome wheels for over 2 years and have no issue whatsoever with mine. I read the directions when I bought mine and have stuck to it. I have even put a layer of wax on my wheels to give them a little more protection from the everyday street grime.

I know there are/were some issues with these wheels from the factory, but there are too many folks out there that are doing stupid shit like this to a perfect set of wheels. Especially after paying good money for them you would think you would take better care of them. I can tell you one thing, if you try to get reimbursed for your wheels being scratched AFTER you went through a car wash, I highly doubt the company you bought them from will help you. They will most likely frown on the situation.

You screwed yourself by going through the automatic car wash. Not once, but more than twice......and after you saw the scratches on them.

Laura I totally agree with you and how he/she went through a car wash. The sticker on the wheels d say USE ONLY SOAP AND WATER, HAND WASH. I'm glad to hear yours are still in great shape, that means when I go to put mine on they'll last. B/c I only use soap and water on all my wheels, and sometimes a spray of simple green before I rinse them down. Thanks for the relief lol.

May I ask you, do you use tire shine with your tires, b/c I'm concerned with overspray on the rim being tire shine is not soap and water.

Yep, I use tire shine. I use McGuires usually. But I spray it on a towel and then wipe the tire to avoid over spray. I am sure I get some tire shine on the wheel but it never seems to affect them.

These wheels do just fine when taken care of properly, unless you have gotten a bad batch.

I also use McGuires. I use everything by them. Now hopefully I didn't get a bad batch lol...
