Hey guys,

I've got some weird stains on the plastic window trim. It's the plastic frame that goes around where the window seals on the outside of the car. It's flat black, it's kinda textured, and it's kind of stained, with greys and whites.

Any idea what product to use to clean this up?

Thanks!

I tried everything so I bought some Dupli Color exterior trim paint at Discount Auto and painted them now I never have to worry about shining them or staining them.

Stains might be wax? Try using a pencil eraser on them (I know it sounds crazy but it works) regardless of what they are.

They make a magic eraser for autos, if that doesn't work try Bondo's black trim treatment.

Whatever you use, be sure to mask the trim off with low tack blue painters tape before you wax next time to prevent future issues. It makes the job go way quicker not having to worry about the trim.

Agreed. Simple easy task and saves a lot of headache down the road.

Einszett Gummi Pflege is a great product for cleaning and restoring trim. I've never seen it in stores, but you can get it on Amazon and other detailing supply websites.

I normally use a carnuba wax on the plastic cowl and mirrors. It doesn't leave a white residue and does a fine job restoring it.
