Since I have put in my new suspension upgrades I have been getting a loud clunk when shifting, this happens when I put in first, second, third, and reverse but nothing in fifth. This will happen even if i just move the shifter into different gears when at a stop with the clutch in.

The mods I recently did were UPR upper control arm(adjustable), UPR Lower control arms, QA1 shocks in the rear and Eibach Pro kit springs all around. I am missing the UCA bumpstop but I doubt that is the clunking noise.

Is this just the stiffer suspension just transmitting more noise up into the cabin or is there another problem going on? Any insight will help :beerchug2:

It is an 09 GT btw with only a CAI + brenspeed 93 tune and line lock as other mods.

Did you buy the stepped washers for use with an aftermarket UCA and the stock UCA mount? Also, did you torque the control arms with the suspension "loaded"

Stepped washers? I don't think so and yes I do have the stock UCA mount. Everything was torqued with the suspension loaded but when I get time in the shop tomorrow I am just going to retorque everything just to make sure.

So it isn't just me hmm

I'm running 11lbs of boost with my e-force, cut a few 1.62 60's and I have the stock UCA mount with my J&M Race UCA so unless you are making high horsepower and dead hooking I'd recommend just getting the stepped washers to use with the stock mount.

Alright then stock mount it is now to try and track down some stepped washers for cheap, Will any 16mm to 14mm stepped washers work?

you might be better off with the washers than spending the money on the uca mount to find out it didnt stop the clunk.i have the hole set that they sell with the uca mount plus uca and it still clunks.somedays more than others but is allways there.

Is it possiable that you exhaust is hitting on your pan hard bar mine does on the right side

I have the UMI LCA's and UCA with their UCA Mount. I still get the clunking as well. I saw something before, and correct me if this sounds crazy, but could it be the 2piece drivestaft making the clunking? Think about it: happens when shifting and, for me at least, happens when I accel/decel. I wonder if its more of a driveshaft issue since the rear is NOW more rigid than stock. Comments?

dont know what to tell you on that,it might help you but in my experience it didnt cure anything.i did my uppers and lowers plus the 1 piece and nothing.one thing i have notice is that when i put my set of wheels in the trunk the clunk becomes very light and sometimes it dosent do it at all.it seems like if the rear needs weight to quiet the clunk.

Well I finally got it into the shop this afternoon and I took off the UCA and adjusted it again and now the clunk is a lot more quite and it is now passable to me so I am just going to let it go and have fun and drive the car.

they're clunky when stock, some more rigid susp parts just amplifies the noises. Stand on it, let the exhaust drown out the clunks.
