clutch disc replacement

why is it recommended to always replace the entire clutch rather than just the disc. put in a spec 3+ and since then haven't driven more than maybe 5k. think i'm going to go with the HOPEFULLY soon to be released T56 when i get off my deployment next year. would rather just replace the disc w/ a 26 spline disc since there are so few miles on it.

It depends on the condition of the pressure plate surface. If the pressure plate is good, throw in new disc(s) and let it eat. Most single clutches are more abrasive on the pp, so they both wear about the same, a dual will last longer. You should be fine at that level to just replace the disc, most clutch companies will also re-hub your current disc with the new spline count you want.
