I'm shoping around for a new clutch.I'm looking at the spec clutches....I've talked with a couple of people that had the stage 3 and 3+,and they told me that they are really graby and they hated it and replaced it.They recomended stage 2 and 2+....somone said that stage 2 are the ones that are having a lot of issues with...and yet the stage 2 and 2+ are the most expensive ones...why is that?any feedback on ATC,and RAM clutch?

No it can handle 500+ rwhp. The stock flywheel is used and should be resurfaced. All you need to buy is a throw out bearing and pilot bearing from Ford. This is exactly what I'm doing. It's a pretty cheap set-up, too.

I'm getting it from VMP Tuning. I don't know part numbers but any competent parts tech can find them for you. I'll post them up when I get them if you haven't found them yet.

McLeod is supposed to make a reallllly good clutch for these cars. I am buying one as I have heard nothing but good things about them. And they are designed to work with the factory TOB.

SPEC stage 3+ FTW. They are grabby at first but after the first 500 miles they are the best.

Don't go with the Spec 2 or 2+, those are the ones that most people have had problems with. The Spec 3 or 3+ is a good choice but it is a on/off clutch. You will get used to it but it is grabby. The P51 is supposed to be very good but I can't personally vouch for it because I haven't tried it. McLeod makes excellent clutches. That is what I went with after the Spec 2+ fiasco that I started with. I have the McLeod RST, it's a twin disc and it feels lighter than stock but holds all the power that I have and then some. I would recommend it to anyone. :beerchug2:

I think power level would be an issue. You don't need a twin disc if you have basic bolt-ons. I would think that would be pretty grabby. I have basic bolt-ons and am running a Centerforce Dual Friction (not the DFX) with my TR6060 and love it so far. It feels just like stock. When I'm at the strip I can easily feather it at launch and it grabs all other gears nicely.

what ever you do, do not install a fidanza clutch... junk!!!!

I have a spec 3 in mine and it's great. it takes a little getting used to it but it holds great and I have had no problems since it was installed.

I have the Spec 3 also. It is a great clutch. It is very sticky for at the track, but runs well on the street. My car is a DD and I have zero complaints.

But, like ceramic brakes, they MUST be broken in correctly in order to run smoothly. If you don't do the break-in right, it will chatter between every gear. If you have never broken in a kevlar clutch, you will want to get advice from the company who makes what ever clucth you buy, and ask them what to do. You are looking at between 300 - 500 miles of good break-in for a Spec 3.

I think the spec stage 3+ clutch is a great clutch. like everybody says as long as you break it in corectly you won't have any issues with it. it holds a temendous amount of power mine lasted up to 730rwhp and was very streetable.
