Success!!! Thanks to all for the help--it was very much appreciated.

It was indeed the pressure plate. I knew as soon as I bled the system and put my foot on the pedal that it was fixed, as I could feel it releasing the clutch. I didn't use the supplied spacer, as when I did the measurements, I had 0.75" of preload on the throwout and the spacer is only recommended if you have less than 0.5".

Before I put everything back together, I tested the release by spinning the tailshaft in neutral (spun fine), trying to spin while in gear and the clutch pedal released (couldn't budge it, as expected) and then having my wife hit the clutch pedal (could turn it and sort of hear the clutch disc brushing the flywheel/pressure plate).

Took it for a spin around the neighborhood and it's a heavier clutch than stock, even though it is the RAM stock replacement. Let's hope it holds up longer.
