I got the code for the Alternator issue.. what Alternator has everyone been replacing the factory one with to resolve the issue? Even though my mustang GT is a 2005, it has a little over 14,000 miles on it, seems not a lot of miles to have to change out the alternator. Should I replace it with a higher amp alternator or go with a factory unit? Also I saw a good while back where someone rebuilt their alternator with some improved parts, but can't remember the link to the thread. All i remember was the person put in higher rated replacement parts.

I got mine rebuilt locally for $119. Works awesome. Might want to look into some local alternator shops and save some money.

My alternator on my 2010 gt whines like no tomorrow but it still works. You can really hear it when the rpm climbs. So I don't know if they are any better or not.

Thanks for the info. I'll look into getting a 2010 Alternator instead of the Pa performance one.
from what I can see by the description of the 2010 alt it is a 150 amp alt. nice..
Apparently it drops straight in.

Sounds like the alternator bearings (front and rear) are shot, and replacing them shouldn't be too difficult.

The 05-09 alternator's are single phase units. The 2010 alternator is a 3 phase unit. Single phase alternator's went the way of the do-do bird years ago. I'm surprised Ford used a single phase unit on the 05-10 cars in the 1st place. Every other car maker has been using 3 phase types well b4 2005. The 2010 unit will drop right into a 05-09 car.

will drop right in, but will the wiring connect the same as the 05? or will I need to change anything for it to work?

The 2010 Alt works perfect, except for every now and then when I crank the car up the alt belt makes a noise. other than that no other issues..
