Compass going bonkers

any of you guys\gals know where the compass is located, mine is going bonkers it changes direction every 5 seconds.
i disco the battery- no help
i unplugged the mirror itself- no help
if i tap on the mirror it will hold direction for a few minutes then go bonkers.

HAHA never heard it called cookies before.

But anyways the compass probably needs to be re calibrated.

Compass zone adjustment

1. Determine which compass zoneyou are in by referring to the zonemap.
2. Turn the ignition to the ON/RUNposition.
3. Press and hold the control for nomore than six seconds until thezone selection number appears inthe mirror display window. If a “C”appears repeat this step.
4. Release the control, then press itdown again.
5. Repeatedly press until your zone number is shown in the mirrordisplay, then release.
6. The display will show all segments, then return to normal compassmode within ten seconds.

Compass calibration adjustment

Perform this adjustment in an open area free from steel structures andhigh voltage lines.
1. Start the vehicle.
2. Press and hold the control until “C” appears in the mirror display.
3. Drive the vehicle slowly (less than 3 mph [5 km/h]) in circles until thedisplay reads a direction.
4. The compass is now calibrated

in case anybody cares, the compass is the mirror. ( all one unit ) not like jeeps where the compass module is under the top of the dash.
