Costco Gas

My car runs on 93 race tune.
I have been using costco 93 octane ever since I bought the car just because it the cheapest but kinda curious about the quality of their gas compared to chevron or other name brand gas station.

Or does it even matter on level of mods I have?

They probably get their gas at the same bulk plant as the Chevron's and Exxon's in your area, but they add their own "propriety blend" additive.

In Vegas, everyone swears to only use Chevron or Rebel gas. I'm also confused by gas quality and brands. But I figure, if I pull up to a pump, and they pump my 91 octane through the same hose as the 89 and 87 octane, I'm not pumping there if I can help it lol. I stay away from BP/Arco like the plague. My ass-dyno does feel more responsive when I put Shell gas in the car though. Might just be the pump talking dirty to me, I dunno.

All I know, is I hate all you bastards and your 93 octane!!! Fvckin Vegas 91 sucks my ass hairs.

run the gas you used to have dyno tune; or wish you did...

If canned tune, Sunoco or Chevron 93, or wish you did...
example: Shell is trash, watch a/f...
Constco... wouldnt chance it.

Get/run 'safe' tune for the cheap crap, run 'sweet' 93 tune on fuel you used to get dynotuned.

So cheap 93 vs quality 93 affect your performance too(or even possibly damaging your engine on 93 tune)? I thought 93 was just 93... I thought the price difference was coming from the additive

Nope.. My first experience with that was getting tuned w/ Chevron 93, putting Shell 93 in and going to the track and detonating over 5300... good thing it was a lightly modded n/a car and not FI... BOOM!

save what, 5.00 a fill up... and spending how much on cams? heads? FI? built motor? if it goes boom... did you really save... ???

Best bet is to get tuned w/ nonblended and make your race/hot tune with that fuel, only! And, have a commuter tune that'll work with 87 Costco if you get caught in a bind and its all you got... This is also a good idea w/ all the methanol blends... not all blends are the same... even at the same pump... ever...

B/C you are running a verry mild tune, or.... running horrible b/c at top end b/c pulling alot of timming...

ie... you are not getting what you paid for out of your car... good thing your tuner knew you were a cheap knucklehead!

Most gas is the same. Gas stations buy the franchise name and then contract whichever tanker happens to have gas in their area. I've seen tankers tamped "ARCO" fueling up a "Chevron" station and a "Shell" station being fueled up by a random no name "Joe's Gasolines" truck.

The one thing that's different is the additive package.

Also, in some areas, Shell doesn't have ethanol in their gas but I think most do now.

It's a dyno tune but I have also ran Am/Bama and Broospeed tunes with it. Now, thinking back, I don't recall having Shell when I was at the track. Each time at the track I had either 76, cheveron or mobile depending on what track I am going to. For my d/d I tend to use shell as it's on my way to work. I always thought shell along with 76 and cheveron were a top tier gas. I am not trying to be a cheap knucklehead.

Out here over the hump, our Union 76 station used to sell racing gas. Then Rebel took it over and all we get is 91 octane, too. Since that's where most of the modded cars go for fuel, at least I know it's fairly fresh, hasn't been sitting in their tank for months.

92 octane is max out here in the rainy state. Not that it makes much difference, 50 octane is enough when ya can't drive your car in the rain.

Costco is the closest station to us so we use it. I haven't noticed it being any better or worse than anything else, except Arco gas. The Arco staions here are all minimarts with pump your own/pay at the pump WITH their surcharge they ding you for for using a debit card, and they don't take credit cards. So even if their gas was good, and it aint, it's SHIT, I wouldn't pay an extra .75 cents for the privilege of buying their gas, fuck em.
