Coyote dies when up to temp-intermittent start

So I got my tune loaded up and the car started flawlessly. No engine codes. I got it up to temp and it died. Once it died, it wouldn’t restart. I left it sit for a while and it started up and seemed ok. For a min or two. Then it dies again and won’t restart til it sits. I checked codes and the only thing that came up was P0512…..once. I checked it again and there’s no codes. Any ideas?

P 0512 is a starter request circuit code. Do you have a hand held tuner? If so monitor pids for fuel, temprature etc.

The starter engaged every time. It cranks but won’t start. When I get home tonight I’ll try again. To me it seems fuel related but I am not certain so I want to ask the more knowledgeable people on the forum.

Depends. If the car runs when cold it means that the sensor itself works but the resistance is getting too low to work if hot. Not sure if this error is captured from the software.

For what it is worth... I had similar problem many years ago on a 5.7L Hemi in my 05' Durango. When cold, it ran perfect, but when it got hot it would turn off. It was the crank sensor, but no code was thrown.

Go back to basics, engine needs air, fuel and ignition to run. When the issues occurs check MAF, fuel pressure, injector pulse, etc. also check that the coils are igniting.

So then you need to monitor Data. Will tell you alot

Sorry, what I meant was datalogging it until it dies and see what’s happening right before that might be causing it. I appreciate everyone’s help in getting to the bottom of this!

So I replaced the crank position sensor with a new Ford part and the car hasn’t died on me while idling yet. I haven’t actually drove this thing yet as I am trying to debug it before I get it on the road.

I also found a post on here by Juice describing how he did his purge solenoid. I redid mine and the car seems to idle smoothly with a little bit of chop to it (my stage 3 cams?). Next step is to drive it around the neighborhood and see if there are any other immediate issues that I need to fix. If that goes well the car is heading to the exhaust shop for a 3” exhaust.

Baby steps at this point but I think it’s heading in the right direction.
