Im looking for more info and I know some of you guys have done the swap. Most of you guys are probably running the frpp control pack but is it possible to run the stock 3v ecu and coyote ecu in tandum with say the engine connector only on the coyote ecu? And if any of you guys had some pinouts of any 11-16 gt that would be great. I cant seem to find any. Or could a stock ecu be used instead of buying the control pack?

Can a 3v engine harness be used in place of a coyote harness? It looks like in addition to the frpp control pack an engine harness is also needed but it would be easier and cheaper to reuse my stock harness and modify it if needed.

And lastly does anyone know if the harness for the 11-14 dash is that much different than my 07's? Ive wanted to swap to a 10-14 interior too but if its too much work I think Id do a coyote swap first then later on down the road swap in the dash with all needed wiring.

Any info is much appreciated. Ive found some info here and there but I cant seem to find much about the above.

No, the Coyote PCM needs lots of input from the body harness. Not sure why you would even want to try to run them in tandem.

You can use a stock Coyote PCM, but you will need a tune to delete PATS and convert to a return style fuel system unless you get a Coyote fuel tank.

No, the Coyote engine harness is a lot different. You can't use a 3V engine harness. You will reuse your body harness since you need to re-pin a lot of stuff from the body harness to the Coyote PCM.

Thanks man, Ive been reading up on your thread and its been a big help.

I thought another member was running both ecu's for ease of install. Like only the engine controls from the coyote ecu and tapping into it for the stock 3v computer so everything works.

Ok cool so the control pack isnt a must but Ill probably go that route anyway.

Thanks for posting the link of the wiring diagrams. I havent clicked it yet but I was trying to navigate that website yesterday with no luck.

I guess ~$260 isnt a lot for plug and play when it comes to the engine harness. Maybe Ill get lucky and find a used one from a mustang. And I read one out of an f150 will also work.

Right now I have been piecing stuff together and thats why I havent even bothered getting a wrecked coyote. Plus if the interior is a lot of work because a new dash harness needs to be installed then Im just going to skip that part for a while.

You don't need to buy the control pack, I used an F150 coyote harness, 2012 Mustang pcm with PATS deleted.If you are going to use a 2011-14 interior then you might as well get the entire body harness and engine harness. There is alot of great info in the Hardcore tech Motor Swaps section of this forum.

Everything in my car works with the Coyote PCM. The only thing on my car that doesn't work after the swap is my EVAP and traction control. I didn't care to make the EVAP work and I don't care about TCS either. There is no need for two PCMs and I don't think it would even be possible. My gauges, cruise control, AC, etc... all work.

Control pack is a waste of money IMO. Get a Coyote engine harness AND battery harness. It will make your life a lot easier.

Cool thanks guys. By the way do you guys know if it would be any different to use the 15-17 ecu as opposed to the 11-14? Id like to use a gen 2 coyote motor if I can. Ive read an article outlining the differences in the motors and it seems the gen 2 is leaps and bounds above the gen 1 but it only makes 15 more hp and torque if Im not mistaken? Im not looking to boost this thing and I dont want a dyno queen, however, could a gen 1 make the same power as a gen 2 with the same mods and a tune? It sounds petty but if one has the potential to make more power with bolt ons and theyre the same price Id like to get the better one.

My used Coyote came with everything. Harness, compressor, alt, hoses etc. I purchased a new battery harness and new '13 ford pcm. I repinned the PCM connector to my 07 harness. Flashed with SCT tuner. I'm running the 07 dash and installed oil press, oil temp, and wideband guage on A pillar.

Yes, there were some wiring modifications needed. I had to fish two additional circuits into the cabin. By estimate, I spent about 30 hrs on the wiring. Took my time, made sure there were no mistakes. I was rewarded by the car starting on the first attempt without any issues.

Never touched the fuel pump. The V6 pump is more than enough to run an N/A coyote. There was no sing of leaning out on the dyno, or at the first track event with the car.

95% of the repinning involves the C175B connector (70 pin) at the PCM. There are a few wires that go to C175T, and that flat connector by the pcm (sorry, forgot what number connector that is).

The fuel pump control module has 2 circuits going to the PCM that need to be hooked up. Fuel pump control, and Fuel pump monitor. I just hooked those up and my fuel pump functions normally. I purchased the flex line for the '13 coyote that connects the line from the chassis to the fuel rail. Done. The '07 pump works just fine with the '13 PCM.

I had about 30hrs labor into the wiring part of the swap, just to give you an idea. I took my time, one wire at a time.

I printed out the wiring diagrams for the PCM for both years to work from. Some of the circuit names are not exactly the same in the ford manual between years, so that adds to the challange.

I had to add 2 key on hot leads to power the rear O2 heaters and the CVT solenoids. There are 3 key on hot fuses in PDC, 2 unused. All 3 are now in-use.

So you added a flex line back to the hard line for the fuel line? Im a little confused. But thats good to know I can reuse my stock fuel pump if I want.

I dont plan on running cats so I wont need to repin for the rear o2's. Will I need to wire in a second set of vct solenoids?

I ran the 3V FPDM and stock fuel pump for awhile then switched over to the 2011-14 FPDM and fuel pump because the Coyote pump flows more fuel.Like Juice said most of the repinning is done on the 70 pin connector. Get wiring diagrams for your 3V and one for the year Coyote that you purchase, take your time repinning, go one at a time, it may seem overwhelming at first but you start to see how all the systems are fed. All my factory gauges work and that was important to me, my speedo is the only thi g that is off because I stayed with the TR3650 but it can be corrected in a tune.

Thats good to know. It seems like there isnt a whole lot of work involved in a coyote swap in an early s197, besides physically dropping in the motor. I appreciate everything guys.

Ill probably keep my tr3650 but I do like the idea of having 6 gears. It would be nice if the mt82 wasnt such a shitty trans lol.

I'm talking about the flex line that feeds the fuel rail, that has the quick disconnects. One end on the fuel rail, the other under the master cylinder connecting to the hard line from the tank. Bougth one for a '13 5.0 and its "plug and play".

The CVT solenoid circuit is similar to the ignition coil and fuel injector circuits. All need a "key on hot". Since the V6 has no CVTs, the circuit needed to be added.

Ps: Anyone who is doing this swap, just get a Magnum XL. Its more than worth it. 700ftlb rated, SFI rated bell included with trans. It's the smoothest shifting trans I've owned. And it eliminates that stupid shifter design (lets mount the shifter to the body, BRILLIANT! not), and driveshaft worries. I got about 6K miles on my swap. It does not matter if you drive like granny, having a little fun, or running HPDE track days. Hot or cold, it shifts effortlessly. The downfall of the MT82 is it's ability, or lack there of, the shift at high rpms. If you read up on the design of the Magnum, Tremec specifically addressed the high RPM shifting issues in the design.

Do you have a part number for the fuel line? It would be awesome if you had a picture as well, I chose to make my own fuel line, but I'd like to use stock where possible.

It really isn't as hard as people think it is. There is some wiring stuff that will leave you scratching your head a bit, but it's mostly straightforward. If you run into any problems, we can help you out.

I like the MT82 in my car. I shift at 7500 and with the MGW Race Spec it always falls into gear. Granted, I don't power shift or anything like that since I have traction trouble on the street, but it's WAY better than my 3650 ever was. MT82s can be had for relatively cheap (I paid $800 for mine from a 2016 with less than 20k miles on it) and the rest of the swap parts inexpensive too. You can reuse your pressure plate, get a 23 spline clutch disc (my exedy stock replacement was less than $100, shifter, stock DS (also dirt cheap), and you'll be ready to go.

The gearing in the MT82 is great for a high revving Coyote. The lower gears are really aggressive so even with a numerically lower rear gear set, the car moves out pretty well. Yes, a Magnum is definitely stronger than an MT82, but I don't like the gearing for a Coyote car and they are 3-4x as much as an MT82 swap would run. Doing a Magnum would have doubled the cost of my swap.

Its not a track car so powershifting isnt in the forseeable future. If I can find a deal Id get an mt82, I really like its gearing and how it has another drive gear. I like the fact the magnum has a direct shifter but I dont like the double overdrive and its low gearing. Its for someone with a twin screw really. And to make up for the gearing, if I were to stay na, Id need 4.56s to be on par with a stock geared mt82. Ill pass lol.
