I've had my car back from the shop for about two weeks and now someone decided to put a nice to the metal scratch in it. The thing that really pisses me off is that this obviously isn't from the vehicle but from someone getting in and out of a vehicle and rubbing a purse or something against the car. Of course I confronted the woman next to me when I came out but she says it wasn't her and that her mom got out of that side of the car and there was no way her purse did that. That it had to be the vehicle that pulled out of the spot before she got there. When I parked in the spot there was one car there and they were actually taking up two spots....the one in the row behind me and the spot next to me, so I don't know how there was someone parked next to me before she got there. People f***ing suck.

Confession time. When I was 15 I was out partying with some friends. We were high and drunk and out driving around in an old ragged piece of shit that barely ran. We stopped somewhere to get more beer or something (I was smashed and don't remember) and when I got out of the car I bumped into the car next to us. For some reason I got pissed at the car and proceeded to smash the door into the other car repeatedly until there was a huge dent in it.

That happened about 33 years ago and to this day I still think about it every single fucking time I park my car anywhere. I get dents every once in a while and all I feel when I see them is guilt. In the overall scheme of things I deserve every single door ding I've ever gotten and then some. One day I hope the score is finally settled and I can quit getting door dings and feeling guilty about it.

This is why I don't go to the mall in my car and when I do drive it anywhere I park in the nose bleeds, take up 2 spots and trek it in.

I pull the corner spots at the end of the parking lot. I get as close to the curb as I feel comfotable with. If someone parks close enough to hit my car and does, Ill wait on their ass. Sorry to hear about your issues though... One after another it seems!

....and I did park in back. I got about as far away as I really could but unfortunately with black friday there wasn't too many places to go.

Yeah, way more than rubbed against. It was down to the metal. You can see a few of the paint flakes still laying on the door. This was the edge of a piece of metal pushed firmly against the door and despite what that women said I say her mom had a piece of metal on her purse that got pressed firmly against my door. With where the damage is it's not from a vehicle. I ended up putting a small layer of touch up paint on it to at least protect the metal. With the cold weather I'll have to see if I can apply some more touch up paint/clear down the road and wet sand/buff the area. Of course it will never match completely. God people suck. Maybe I should have paid her back with a nice deep scratch in her vehicle? Maybe I need to start doing an eye for an eye? >:-(

Years ago, my wife and a friend took my new 01 GT to do a little shopping. Jokingly, I said 'don't wreck it' as she walked out. Long story short, she pulled into a parking spot waaaaaay out in the lot so no one would park next to her and ding the car. She grabbed her purse, opened the door, sticks a leg out, and some asshat pulls up right next to her and damn near takes the door and her leg off. Door and fender were destroyed. Barely a scratch on his off-road bumper. Of all the open spots, he thought it would be funny to park right next to the lone mustang sitting in no-man's land. Police show up and inform my wife that she will be ticketed for violating his right of way! The guy that hit her was a retired police officer himself, so he was gracious enough to convince the officer to cut my wife a break and not ticket her. Gee...thanks. :(

People are so skill-less. Incredible.

I had someone get into a verbal altercation with someone else outside my house late one night. And the jackass took it out on my car. Kicked in the quarter on my old honda civic. After that you couldn't open/close the door because it was right in the crease between the front quarter and the door.

When people get intoxicated or emotional they lose control and stop caring about anything else. Call it a fault of the species if you want.

If I'm ever diagnosed with a terminal illness, asshats beware! I'm gonna buy a POS big ass truck and weld a ring of railroad track around it. Until my death, or arrest, I will make it my mission to cruise the streets punishing 'inconsiderate' drivers.
To my friends at the NSA....I'm just joking ;)

I've never had any noticeable door dings in any of my vehicles. When i had my jeep i had rock sliders on it. I was sitting in parking lot waiting for some one and a tahoe parks next to me. The women gets out and hits her door on my rock slider and glared at me like it was my fault. I was well within my parking space too. I just laughed it off because i knew if there was any damage it would have been to her door.

^^^This is the only way to park, IMHO.

Mfergel, sorry to hear this bud. I have followed your threads/car issues for a while. If I were in your shoes, I'd be ready to drive it off a cliff!

Agreed! I always hug a curb. When there are tight spots I roll down the window and guide it as close to the curb as possible.

Then some asshat kid usually comes whipping their piece of shit right up next to me... over the line. People are just reckless.. that's all there is to it. Luckily I have avoided door dings, but someone did stab my hood with a screwdriver.

Good luck OP. Perhaps touch up paint followed by a little wet-sand and buff job will do the trick.

Anytime I get a door ding I try to line up the spots on the 2 cars to see if their car door lined up with the dent. So far my luck with my 13 has been pretty shitty as well. My latest is a long curving scratch on my roof. Tried to compound it and you can still catch it in the right light. Pisses me off bc its on my roof and that tells me someone went out of their way to reach over my car and scratch it.

im as out of shape as one can get, but i refuse to park close to the entrance of any store or mall, in fact my wife tells me maybe we should take the buss because it drops us off closer to the door.
and like LETHE stated at times i miss my jeep with 4 inches of lift and 37 inch tires, peoples window frames would hit my rock sliders. i use to get some real nasty looks.

I door dinged one person, once, and it was not for lack of trying to hold the door, it was really windy and a gust ripped it out of my hand. I felt super shitty, and it was barely a tiny mark, the broad who owned the car didn't even notice it until I pointed it out. I offered to pay for a dent removal guy, she laughed and kicked the quarter panel, and told me she buys the cheapest car she can find when the one she has stops running.

It was then that I realized that most people don't even think about door dings, they just happen and they move on without ever even noticing.

That being said, I don't take my mustang to crowded places, I park at the end of rows, and I am not afraid to hoof it to get a safer spot.
