Alright everyone my friend Dylan (aka Chally72 on this forum) and I have been working on putting together an affordable brake duct kit for the 05-09 mustang. My car was the test subject and Dylan will be producing these kits. I will vouch for him and say that the quality of his work is excellent. He has been extremely meticulous with every single detail and I assure you that you will be getting a great product at a very competitive price.

Any and all orders should go to DLYAN, NOT ME. His email is listed below. I repeat, he will be producing and selling them. Do not pm me. Contact him directly. Thank you and I look forward to the pm's from people who don't read this paragraph. :thud:

Anyways, here is the posting for the brake duct kits...

We are beginning initial production of a new brake duct kit for 05-09 Mustangs and are trying to gauge demand. The initial production run will be 24 kits, to be sold through the forums here and elsewhere. The hose used is 3" double ply neoprene coated woven fiberglass hose with a spring steel wire support in between layers and an external fiberglass cord support. This is high-temperature, smooth-walled tubing that has a bend radius less than the diameter of the tubing itself, and is made for continuous flexing. At 100mph, each rotor is force-fed 432 cubic ft/min through the center cooling ribs.

Kit Options-
05-09 V6/V8 Stock Lower Grille- Uses the lower set of front mount brackets shown in the Kit picture. I just finished these and prepped them for powdercoating- the duct mounting tubes are not welded on them in the picture.

05-09 Aftermarket Lower Grille- This kit uses the upper set of front mount brackets shown in the Kit picture. It cannot be used if you are still running a stock plastic lower grille piece. It fills the pockets that the stock grille normally sinks back into.

Installation information-
-Each kit will come with everything needed for installation. In addition to the main pieces in the picture, included will be: stainless hardware, hose clamps, zip ties, a downloadable PDF instruction pamphlet with pictures, and more than enough hose for any routing desired. If you are running extremely wide tires or aggressive backspacing, do not fear; you will be able to easily route these hoses so they don't rub.

-The V6/V8 kit will require two holes to be drilled through the grille and bumper to mount each front bracket. The V8 version will additionally need the backside of the eggcrate sanded or a hole cut through the plastic insert with a holesaw.

-The Aftermarket Grille kit requires two holes per bracket, as well as needing the square opening in the bumper to be clearanced slightly on either side to fit the 3" tube. This took us about 30 seconds with a dremel on our test car.

Available Powdercoat colors:
Black
Blue
Red
Chrome

If you would like a different color, please contact me and we can try to fulfill your odd-colored desires.

I am working on adding more options for the front-mounts, including a plastic stick-through bezel and some different styles of mount tubes and plates for different looks.

ALSO- these kits are identical to the 10-13 Boss 302 kits except for the front mount. I have the FRPP kit for my '12 GT and I've actually swapped the spindle mount pieces out for the ones I've manufactured and had no problems.

I push the spindle cover closer to the rotor than most other kits to more effectively trap air in the hat of the rotor (I aim for a 0.100" gap), and I keep the plates thicker to make sure these plates don't deflect at speed and rub against the caliper. I had the FRPP kit on and off my car four times in the first month because of poor hose fitment and flimsy plates contacting my rotor and screeching, and it is one of the things that pushed me to make my own kit. I believe that for the price of some of these kits out there, they should be offering you much more. Anyone that has installed the FRPP kit on a newer Mustang has experienced the pain of a parts-bin kit where hose sizes don't even match up.

The price for the initial 24 kits will be $160, not including shipping. I have spent a lot of time with the UPS shipping calculator and have gotten a box size that should be no more than $25 shipped anywhere to the continental 48.

If you'd like to order a kit, contact me at [email protected]. Estimated ship date is 3 weeks max, depend on where you fall in the initial 24 kit run. If there's enough demand, more kits will be rolling out immediately thereafter.

Thanks guys, and have fun.

Is there a difference of parts that you need between the v6 and v8, I have a v6 bumper, but the 12.4 rotors.

the spindles are the same but the bumper is slightly different. Dylan is in the process of creating front mounts for the v6 using my old v6 bumper. He may even have everything mocked up and ready to go by now. Email him and he'll let you know the status. We are aiming to reach every option we can for the 05-newer in the near future to make this available to everyone.

Hi guys, just some updated info...

Tests yesterday with an IR temp gun and constant 60 to 0 to 60 to 0.... tests showed a 200 degree difference in brake rotor temperature (ducts vs no ducts) after 7 'cycles'.

Also, HellsBells...I am at work right now, but I will be sending an email tonight regarding vender status, etc. I apologize, I didn't mean to break any rules.

Thanks,

-Dylan Gondyke

No worries. It's not my jurisdiction or anything but I just don't want you to step on any toes since this product can only help the community.

Guys...I am located in Eastern CT. If anyone can get their GT/CS to me, I can make templates and make a front mount styled for those cars. Id be willing to give them the kit at a greatly reduced price, but this person would have to drive over a few times for templates and final install. Just email me if you're interested in doing that.

Any concerns since there doesn't appear to be any kind of bracket or hanger to stop the hosing from dropping down over time??

Same thing. If I can get a car in my driveway twice I can make a clean mount for it. The spindle mount duct and hose should fit ANY mustang with factory spindles. It's then just a matter of making a nice plate to mount the hose in the lower valance. I actually bought a v8 lower valance to play with, but saleen stuff is a bit pricey :p

included in the kit is a zip tie large enough to clamp onto either the sway bar or anywhere else you can think of. This will support it from sagging while allowing it to move freely (assuming you don't yank down on it). You can see it in the pictures from the original post. it's a black zip tie.

The hose is tied to the swaybar with two zip ties and again forward on the frame with further zipties. The hose is not like dryer hose, it has a spring steel wire core and retains its shape up to around 30psi pressure. It will not drop. I have the same hose on my '12 GT with many track days, autocross events, and even two snowy days. No problems!

I have the CDC Agressiver spoiler on my stock GT bumper cover. The spoiler is "cut-in" to fit properly. Behind it rests the Roush intercooler for my M90... any info as to fitment probabilty?

Kevin might be able to answer this better. He was just talking about what has to get cut out of a stock bumper to fit one of those the other day. If the intercooler does not extend past the square cutouts in the bumper itself, then you can probably route the hose just fine. I don't think the shape of the lower valance/grille area is the same with the CDC aggressive piece, though. If you can PM me some pictures or link to a thread of your car, that would help.

I am trying to get this post on LMMC-CT to get some local guys to me with different grilles so I can offer more perfect-fit, drill two holes and done kind of options. Jeez! Many more combinations than a '10 and up!
