We got the cams in and like I said about the header install, the next time it will go so much faster. It took us a all day! LOL:stooges:

First the idle is too high, 950 to 1000. When you drive it and let off the gas the idle goes down to 600 then bounces up to 750-800 and sounds awesome. But when you brake it goes up to 950 and even surges the car forward when your braking to a stop. I drove it around the block several times and just knew the tune wasnt right. The throttle response is really delayed as well. Decided to take it home and 3 miles later the od light started blinking. Car still drove normal. Came to a stoplight two miles later and when I gave it gas to go, car wouldnt move forward like it was in neutral. I put the trans into first and pulled forward. Two minutes later I got to the gates to my hood and the same thing happed again. Dropped it in first and made it to my house.

I have read about guys with the hotrods having the od blinking light issue. I would imagine mine is the same. Anybody out there with detroit rockers with a auto trans out there care to comment, it would be appreciated.

Obviously I will call brenspeed on Monday for a revised tune. The one I downloaded is the tune they emailed me for these cams. I dont feel good about driving it, so it will sit in the garage for now.

Here are two videos I made. First one is the cold start after install. Second is my mechanic test driving it, but then I ran out of space on my camera.

Patrick,

You need to speak to Dave their number #1 Tech.

He and George installed my cams this past week.

I hope all goes well with your New Cams.

I'm thinking to be honest that it is perhaps not the tune that is causing your situation.

They (Brenspeed) ship tunes all over the place and those tunes have been Tested over and over.

But, a call to Dave maybe he will have some suggestions as to what is going on.

tiger thanks for sharing. I am contemplating these myself. Have you run your car at the dragstrip before? I would love to hear some comparison on ETs and traps (I drag mine frequently).

Its all in the tune.

I would put money on it. Its completly obvious when you drive it. I need somebody whom has an auto trans with these cams and their mail order tune to chime in.

I heard 2 other guys with autos say they had tune issues with the DR cams. I'm sure I will too once mine is up and running.

I have the BREN2 cams and they work great. Only thing is once and a while the O/D light will flash, but only if I was in stop and go traffic. Only difference is it seems to hang up the 1-2 and 2-3 upshift to a little higher RPM thats all. A restart and it goes away. Good luck with it and hang in there. Maybe tomorrow will bring some good information.

I too remember reading about somebody whom had issues with the tune but I cant find the post. Whatever the deal was with the hotrods and auto trans is prolly the same or similar thing. I just need to be patient................boo, I'm to old to learn patience!!! LOL

Patrick...I have the HR cams in my Saleen S/C Auto GT. running a JDM tune....thats about 90% correct. I still get a flashing OD light but only once in awhile...I dont have to deal with any stop and go traffic so maybe thats why? I will ge the OD light on a long down hill coast.
atleast your car idles...mine still will not idle at cold start up...once its up to temp its 90% ok. JDM says I have a vacum leak??? I cant find it.
also when I put my car in gear I can feel the rpm go up a bit and the lopey sound kinda goes away and when coming to a stop I can slightly feel the car"being pushed" as the rpm is around 900/950. and sometimes the car wont "push" coming to a stop and that when I get the clunking downshift in 2nd and 1st gears :( thats why i say the tune is only bout 90% good.

I cant imagine where the vacuum leak could be coming from? There arent very many hoses!! Now the car being pushed I definatly have that, but not the clunking downshift. Only thing that really concerned me was when I was in drive at a stoplight and it didnt move forward when I gave it gas. I didnt drive it at all today. I did start it a few times and let it warm up. Sounds good but the idle is way too high 950-1000.

It sounds good, i just hope you get the tune revised and it takes care of the flashing o/d light and idle issues.

I have idle issues, but i don't have cams.. It all started when i did delete plates and udps. It isn't all the time either, but when its on a cold start- it surges so bad i can't drive it. To give an example it is like a 1st time driver that is extremely jerky at stickshift.. (my car is auto).. I let it warm up and coast and it goes away.. I have to learn how to data log and what options i should click on so i can send my info to my tuner.

Update

Called brenspeed in the AM and they emailed out a new tune later today. Installed it and man what a difference. All my issues are resolved. Now the car feels like it has some new power. Props to brenspeed for the quick customer service.
