I currently own a SF3/X3 with Bama tune for life, found the trinity locally on CL pretty cheap, is it worth it to switch over for logging and extra capabilities of the t1000??

The Bama tune you have won't transfer to the new device because the tune/handheld/pcm are married. So you'll have to buy a new tune for the Trinity to work unless something has changed over the years. If you want to datalog, look into the Torque app.
