Did body shop mess up or is this normal?

Just got the car back today after barely clipping a deer with the passenger side front corner($2200 in damage), but I noticed tonight that the hood/bumper alignment is not the same side to side.

Passenger side hood is above top of bumper, driver side hood is slightly below top of bumper

If I push up on the bumper cover I can get the alignment to be about the same. Is it just the way the bumper cover is made or did they not properly align it before finishing the install? Or could it be the hood itself that is misaligned?

The good has little bumpers that align the hood at the front. Just screw them down on the side you need to lower. If it doesn't fix send it back

Just got done adjusting them, not much change. Strange thing is that on the inner bumpers, the driver side one was all the way up but the hood was still lower on that side.

I also noticed that the hood/fender gaps don't match side to side either. Driver side is wider than passenger side. Ugh this shop has always done quality work but I guess not this time

Take it back, they should have made it to pre accident condition. I work in a body shop and as much as I hate when a car comes back, it is a problem that should have never made it out of the shop. I'll be paying attention to that after I finish a 5.0 I'm working on in my shop. Don't do it yourself, you didn't put it together

Not normal. They just went through the motions and failed to quality check their work. Otherwise you would not have this issue.

I had a similar issue when my wife had a mild fendeer bender in her Escape. After the repairs, the front driver's side fender didn't align with the front edge of the door at all. When I went to pick it up, I kindly and politely asked the manager to come outside to look at the vehicle, and I asked him if this was his personal vehicle, would he find the work acceptable? He agreed that is was not, and although I had to leave it with them a few more days, they made it right for me.

Any reputable shop should do the same for you. Good luck and keep us posted on how it goes.

At the body shop right now. Not going very good. Geico express guy is saying that it's possible it could've been like that from the factory. Might have to go straight through the body shop manager to get it fixed

Tell the Geico idiot you want his supervisor's name and contact info if he's going to talk to you like you're stupid.

Soooo turns out the chassis is bent and is a 1/2" off. Calling geico and seeing what can be done. I don't want the car back after it comes off the frame puller

The body shop should have caught that right away. Shoddy work if you ask me.

Straightening it out on a frame machine is no big deal. My car had been wrecked twice before I got it, and it's been pulled and stretched on a frame machine a couple times. You'd never know it.
