I bought this X pipe from a good buddy of mine who has a stock header/GT500 axle back set up.

http://www.americanmuscle.com/jba-highflow-xpipe-1113gt.html

Took it to a reputable exhaust shop that I have used twice now. The guy is very meticulous when it comes to the install, and using the right parts/clamps, etc. It doesn't fit. The X is about an inch longer than the factory H that is replacing. I don't wan't to cut the factory pipes at all. I suggested cutting the X, but he was not keen on that, because he didn't have much room to work with on the pipe itself, and was concerned about an improper fit. I was glad to see that he cared more about that than making a few bucks. My only other option was to have the tips sticking about another inch out from where they would normally sit. I was not OK with that, and he was glad that I didn't choose that option. He showed me what it would look like, and it was ridiculous.

My buddy had it on his '12, with no issues. Is the exhaust that much different on the '13? They have the X listed for '10-'14, so I assumed that it would bolt right on with no issues.

My Lethal X pipe also was longer than my OEM h pipe. I thought nothing of it and installed it. It did make my GT500 tips stick out further a bit thought, but it still looks good.

I'd cut the X up front and weld the down tubes to it to make a perfect fit.

Not saying your guy is not good but that should be a walk in the park for an exhaust shop.

It's installed now. He was not keen on making the tips sit out more, but I OK'd it, and in less than 20 minutes, he was done. It sounds pretty good, although I swear up and down there is a leak at the X now. My friend listened, and said hell no. I will have to have him drive it so I can hear for myself. Probably just a different sound now, especially after pulling the Flowmaster Outlaws off there, and going back to a bit more subtle GT500's.

Seat of the pants dyno says a bit more on the lower end, and the throttle feels a little better. Good enough for me especially on the deal I got, and the cheap install.

GT500 A/B :puke: :thud:

You know there is much better sounding chambered A/B that are about the same decibel level as GT500 A/B...

I will be honest, I really like the sound of the GT500's. I had them before the Outlaws, and the sound was really ideal for me, just not loud enough.

What would you consider to be "better sounding" axle backs?

I have the FRPP SVT Sports and those are louder and better sounding than the GT500's IMO. Add in the fact that I have the baffels removed on the side pipes = amazing sound. Still needs to be a little bit louder though IMO.

Why not just cut the Over axle pipes an inch instead of cutting the X pipe?

Borla, Bessani, and JBA all sound much better IMO.

Bassani Street Race axle back - $529.99
JBA axle back - $379.99
Borla Stinger S Type axle back - $759.99
Borla Touring axle back - $674.99 on clearance
Borla ATAK axle back - $859.99
GT500's - $319.99

I would consider the JBA's. The others, fuck no, simply based on the price. I won't spend that much on two mufflers.

No pipes were cut during the install of this X pipe.

I don't think that they stick out too far. They look good from all angles.

That sounds good but longtubes and a full cat back are nowhere in the budget.

It might take a while but you can find any of those for a good price. Plus, you pay more for a better sound IMO
