I totally agree and liken the difference to H=Musclecar, X=Nascar. Back in the 00s, just about everyone in the Terminator scene was doing Bassani X and Bassani (or Borla) straight through mufflers. I severely disliked the sound. I added classic 40 series (chambered) Flowmasters to the stock H on my '03 Cobra and loved it. Deep rumble, zero rasp. Did I give up 10-15 HP? Yep, but I didn't care. The new Delta 60 series Flowmasters, I put on the '08 GT sound just as good, but without the 2,000-2,500 RPM drone the 40 series had on the Cobra.

You just cannot beat the sound of the H pipe in my opinion.

This is my car with JBA longtubes, catted shorty H, and 07-09 GT500 mufflers. Classic mustang sound if I ever heard it, I just love listening to it!

Pickup my car on Monday. It was still in the dyno room idling and the deep exhaust note was sweet. New Bbk headers with new mid pipes H pipe thru American Thunder mufflers (Moderate/Aggressive)
Gain of 31hp and 19 lbs torque

Ended up swapping my X for an H, as the X pipes hanger broke off at the weld.

Sound wise, the H pipe is definitely the louder of the two, especially when paired with the Corsa Sports. Subjectively, it feels like a lot more air is flowing too from idle to mid range. Car leaned out a bit (from .89 lambda to .92) in the mid range up to about 6k RPM with the same commanded fueling. Throttle response seems sharper at part throttle in the mid range.

The tone still needs to grow on me, but the Corsa Sports are just shockingly loud. I don’t know how the extremes could be any louder, lol.

I have JBA ceramic coated LT's.... and mating JBA hi-flow catted H mid section. Then the FRPP FRS-500 SS mufflers. This is on my 2010 GT with small Roush M90 blower.
It was ok at idle, but too loud....and also drone at 2 krpm. So in went the pair of pypes M80 SS resonators.... welded in, just before the rear axle. Problem solved. But on idle , you can hear it inside the house. The sound is exquisite. If you hold a big, empty cardboard box by one flap, just aft of either rear wheel, it will vibrate... with this low freq sound.

With the DSS-DS installed, and also the bigger FRPP twin 62mm TB, I had VMP retune the entire mess for 94 octane (no ethanol). Ended up with 386.3 rwhp, and 370 rwtq on the dyno. This was with just 5 lbs of boost... and also the 5R55S automatic tranny.

What ratio? Had a 3.73 installed last summer and a new exhaust bbk’s on back.
I had 319 whp and 304 torque.
I guess a better question
What do you do for traction?

u asking me ? I have oem 3.31 rear gears. Rear tires are MPSS, 305-35-19's on 10" wide rims. Fronts are Nitto 555's in 285-40-18 on 10" wide rims.

I left the rear gear alone, since on the 5r55s automatic, 2nd gear is 14% lower than 2nd gear in the manual. 3rd gear in the auto is 16.5% lower than 3rd gear in the manual.

Whitline watts link....and also eaton tru-trac LSD.

I appreciate the info Pentalab! I don’t want to be that guy that’s crashing in curbs and end up like my kid taking out two cars. The 3.73 really made the car responsive! Not mention Lidio’s tune. I absolutely love driving this car! Though I would have wanted a manual, Parkinson’s dictated other wise.

Ended up switching back to the X. IMO, fits the Corsas tone a lot better.

Also quite interesting side effect of the swapping, moving the position of the X also made a subtle improvement in the tone of the exhaust too. Similar to the slide on a trombone, it can make a difference.
