Feel fee to move if this isn’t the right section (unable to post in WTB)

I have Pypes LT headers with their catted X, but looking to swap for an H, but unable to find a clean cut and clamp for the 05-09 cars with headers. Besides going to an exhaust shop to fab up an H, anyone have any sources or links to a suitable H? If anyone has used an exhaust shop to fab an H, would be good to see those as examples too.

Also willing to swap mid pipes if anyone here if anyone is local to Houston and has Pypes H pipe.

Is there some reason you can't use this?

Unless I am reading the OP wrong this should work. Unless the headers don't have a bolted flange.

Ahh...that makes sense. I've heard most places do that.

Tried contacting Pypes directly and see if you can just get the H section?

Sure did. Asked for a piece similar to their cut and clamp X, but just with the H portion. No dice.

I think you're just better off going to a muffler shop and having them fab it up. It really shouldn't be that much and it's pretty simple.

Yeah...without being able to buy another short H pipe section, I'm not sure what your other options are- unless you were able to find something used on ebay and have it adapted.

I’m having headers and exhaust installed this week. I currently have a H pipe with American Thunder mufflers. I asked to keep the H pipe, because I like the deep rumble. Then I was told that it’s not necessarily the H pipe that gives it that sound. The cams are stock, because it’s an automatic and I don’t want to lose the bottom end. I should have it back in a week or two and I’ll let you know how it sounds. Weather pending!

I have had both on a prior car and it makes a subtle, but noticeable difference in tone.

H pipes are definitely deeper, more “clap” or rumble whereas the x is smoother and more of a raspy scream up top. H pipe is definitely louder at idle vs the X

LMR had a 3" h pipe for newer stangs that I thought would work on my 07 with bbk longs at $167 last i checked. They would give you measurements im sure.

I have had H and X on several Mustangs and prefer the H for the deeper muscle car sound. There is also a "science" to where to place it in the exhaust system... In the old days, we used to spray paint the exhaust and where it started to buddle that's where you cross-over tube went.

Here are some pics of my 05' GT. I have been getting my exhaust done at this shop for over 20 years! He was the first in S. FL to have a mandrel bending machine.

You can hear the difference between and H pipe and X pipe on these things. I've had both. It doesn't sound bad either way but you can hear the slightly higher pitch with the X pipe.
I totally agree and liken the difference to H=Musclecar, X=Nascar. Back in the 00s, just about everyone in the Terminator scene was doing Bassani X and Bassani (or Borla) straight through mufflers. I severely disliked the sound. I added classic 40 series (chambered) Flowmasters to the stock H on my '03 Cobra and loved it. Deep rumble, zero rasp. Did I give up 10-15 HP? Yep, but I didn't care. The new Delta 60 series Flowmasters, I put on the '08 GT sound just as good, but without the 2,000-2,500 RPM drone the 40 series had on the Cobra.

Looks good!!!
I’m hoping my car is done this week. Headers all the way back. I too prefer the H!
