Do I need to re-tune?

I recently purchased a 07 GT. It came with catless h pipes and pype bomb resonator tips. It also came w a scr tuner and was tuned for O2 sensor delete. The car is insanely loud so I found a used oem cat h pipe I'm going to put on the car. Do I need to hook up the O2 sensor if I add the catalytic since it's already tuned for the delete? Or will the cats cause an issue without the sensors? Thanks

Depends on the tune. If it’s tuned for deletes, they probably disabled the catalyst over temp function, so the biggest risk is damaging the cats.

I would either add mufflers, or if you do want cats, spend the money for an updated tune to get emissions back on and ensure catalyst protections are in place in the tune.

Edit, missed your primary question. You will need the passenger side upstream O2 plugged in 100%. The ones in the cats only monitor efficiency so leaving them unplugged technically won’t hurt anything besides what I mentioned above from the tune.

Thank you! I will need to get under the car and check, but is it safe to assume the after market straight pipe will have this O2 up stream sensor? It looks like it's the bank 1 sensor 1 from what I can find on the Google.

Yeah it’s there, otherwise your car would have a CEL and run terrible. Most O/R midpipes just remove the downstream ones.

I might add that if you decide to leave off the cats and just go with mufflers, do not use any aftermarket mufflers. Try to get the GT 500 mufflers. Anything else will be loud without the cats. This is, of course, subject to personal taste.

I considered finding used stock mufflers to put on as a cheaper option, but the few videos I could find on-line of others who have done that, the sound was muffled but sounded terrible. Maybe it would sound better w the GT 500 mufflers? I'm in central IA, so a used set will be hard to find in my area

They are hard to find. There was a set here on our "for sale" thread not too long ago.

Depending on how quiet you want it to be. Even options like the Borla S Types quiet it down significantly. I ran that setup with an O/R H and it was very manageable and sounded great.

You don't happen to have those Borla S's for sale , do ya? . Thanks for all the input. I also considered the Borla s option, but didn't want to spend $600 not knowing if it would quiet it down enough. Ideally, I want the car to sound like it has a aftermarket exhaust system, but quiet enough my neighbors don't hate me.

Nope, sorry. But I ran Borla S types for a long while with an off-road H and 6AM cold starts didn’t bother my neighbors.

Honestly, my best sounding exhaust with stock manifolds was the O/R H and Borla S types. Deep, not obnoxious, especially after having Outlaws on the same setup. Cold starts were beyond obnoxious.

I don't have a lot of experience with aftermarket exhaust, but I also think the Borla sounds better than most. Deeper, not raspy like most of them. I ran Borla Touring mufflers on my 2009 Bullitt after blowing out 3-4 sets of stock Ford mufflers. But then 14 lbs of boost will tend to do that. :p

Originally, I bought my car with the BBK Intake. I decided to add the Pacesetter catless H-pipe. With the factory exhaust manifold and stock cat-back, the idle was very stock sounding. But it growled nicely when the throttle opened up.

If I have not gone completely custom? I would probably have just supercharged the car and left the exhaust alone.

I put hooker max-flow mufflers on my 07, and deleted the cats. It is very tame, only enough growl to know it’s a v8 and absolutely no droning.

That sounds nice. I like it!.

man ill tell ya what,,
i got mutha thumpers . catless.,.. X-pipe, with loud axle backs.
it sounds dope,, but it sounded soooooooooooo nice with the h pipe,,

i only did the X pipe for the hp gain..
the H pipe really made it sound like a muscle car..
the Xpipe makes it more raspy and almost ricer sounding..

i mean it still sounds so good,, but
the h pipe is where its at for sound..

Just want to say thanks to everyone for the responses. Ended up leaving on the catless h pipe and swapping out the resonators with borla S. Sounds freaking awesome, and it toned it down enough my neighbors widows won't flex.
