Don't you have to send the blower hub to get the pulley installed?

Yes. Part of the dob manifold cost includes a quick change pulley swap. I can do it myself or send it in. Since I don't have the tool to pull a gt500 pulley I'll send it in. Jason puts a nice 6 bolt hub on it that is very easy to mount a pulley on. I'd imagine it will be as easy to change as the Whipple was.

My plans are for a 3" and 2.65" pulley. The larger one for 92 octane pump gas and the smaller one for E85. We are thinking that the 3" when combined with my 322 inch motor will make about 7-8psi. However, when combined with 12:1 compression the online calculators are saying it will be the same as a stock compression 3v with 11-12psi. I think that the compression will work well with lower boost and pump gas. That in turn will keep iats lower. We will see how it goes. The heat exchanger is larger than the Whipple was iirc. The downside is that it's a roots but as long as it's not spun too hard the temps should stay out of the stratosphere. We will see.

It can always be upgraded to a tvs if the M122 just doesn't work out. In previous setups I've found that 550rwhp was about the limit for being fun to drive on the street. I'm fairly certain that this combo with 92 gas at 7-8psi will be capable of somewhere between 525-550 while keeping the iats low. It's just a guess though.

I have enough of a drivetrain foundation to take it as high as I dare. The weak link is the clutch but that can be changed out easy enough.

Are you sticking with the 6rib? Or are you (maybe already) doing 8-rib ?

I've been looking at the DOB kits on ebay, I was just scared of trying to find all the parts needed to make the kit complete. wasn't there a guy on here that sold complete kits and helped with install?

I've told the wife a S/C is in the near future but it would be sooner if I could spend $3600 versus 6 to 7 grand on a complete roush kit.

I was overwhelmed at first but after doing 3 installs its not bad.

The parts you need are suggestions of prefered parts. The beauty of this dob is it can be done with many other parts and how you like it.

Are you going to to the regular manifold or the rspec? I thought I read somewhere that it is harder to change the head unit if you want to up grade unless you use the rspec. I would love to see what a 4.0 on you motor would make!!

Lol the R-spec is EXPENSIVE. It's made specifically for the 3.4L and 4.0L Whipples IIRC.

The standard DOB manifold is perfect for almost any GT500 compatible SC. Just unbolt the old and bolt up the new.

I considered the R spec but in order to keep the costs low went with the GT450.

IMO the ultimate blower for my motor would be a 2.9 Whipple. As I understand it that can't be used with the GT450. I'm not sure why because it's an easy swap for a GT500. Be that as it may, I'm fairly certain that this will be capable of big numbers with a 2.3 tvs if I ever decide to go that route.

In the end this is just another example of my having to have something keeping my obsessive/compulsive mind occupied.

Did a little today. The GT500 heat exchanger bracket had hooks on the end that prevented installation with the front end on. I hate taking the front end off so my solution was to score and break part of the hook portion off.

It was bolted up with exhaust manifold nuts. It's easier to install by taking the heat exchanger out of the mounting bracket and putting it back in later.

Here it is installed. I still have the bracket on the car for mounting a meth kit if it becomes needed with pump gas.

The view from the top. Awaiting the pump to finish it and install the tank. I was able to get 3 of the stock intercooler hoses as take offs. One that goes from the pump to the heat exchanger, one from the pump to the stock reservoir, and one from the heat exchanger out. I should only need two sections of heater hose to hook it up to the intercooler. The important bends are taken care of.

Actually, I think gmitch is the boss. He sent me a few emails with three different prices of kits, the complete one is $4395. I don't have the patience to piece it together or the know how to do the install. Do want though!

You're correct.

Gmitch (Jacen) is the actual DOB manufacturer. CrownAviation (Jim) is one of the first guys to get on board with DOB, and the first to offer a full lot he pieced together.

Jim is who I bought from.

The full kit from Jim is so worth it. It comes with more than enough parts in case you mess up a little. Great support from him as well.

His dual fuel pump harness is better than frpp and all the parts he uses are quality stuff.

Bruce,
For the folks like me who can't keep up with all of the engines you seem to build, can you post the particulars (pistons, rods, cam, etc.) of the drivetrain foundation that you are using with this install?
Thanks
