Rear gears make very little difference. A few hp maybe.

Aren't you shooting for 450rwhp or so anyway? Gotta be conservative with a stock motor.

I love 4.10 gears. They should of been a stock option imo. Don't be afraid of 4.56 either, even more fun, lol.

Haha..well the economy isn't great....However when I get bruces DOB kit on my car I may want 4.10s I can admit being a noob and I'm ok with that. I do however know how to drive a car.

They don't really hurt mpg imo. You have a .68 5th gear so the final drive ratio with 4.10 gears is actually 2.79 in 5th. Pretty economical. City mileage goes up if you can keep your foot out of it.

Don't fear the gear, lol. FWIW my car hits the limiter at around 140mph in 4th gear with 4.10s. IIRC 4.56 topped out around 120 in 4th.

The dob is going to be a huge power boost for you anyway. Do your 3.90 gears make noise?

No they are french cut 3.90 gears they are pretty smooth and quiet just that 2nd gear clunk that everyone notices

That's interesting. It's the combination of teeth on the ring and pinion that cause noise. Maybe they are using a different combo of ring and pinion teeth to get 3.90?

The DOB teardown has begun. I'll give you an update later on. Just taking a dinner break right now.
