Finally, a local pulling this trigger before myself.

Cant' wait to see the outcome. Got to figure out your weakness to teach me. Beer? Pizza? Etc..?

Hmm...

Want a test ride when you are done.

Bruce,
For the folks like me who can't keep up with all of the engines you se"em to build, can you post the particulars (pistons, rods, cam, etc.) of the drivetrain foundation that you are using with this install?
Thanks

Sure. The engine consists of a FRPP Big Bore Boss block. Pistons are Diamond flat tops, rods are Manley h beam with arp 2000 bolts, crank is a 3.750" stroke Kellogg. Heads are FRPP CNC. Cams are basically 127500 with a 108 icl and 113 lsa. Calculated compression is 12:1. The pistons are installed with .003" ptb clearance.

Transmission is a TR6060 from a 2008 GT500. Drive shaft is from a GT500 with two safety loops. The rear end consists of a Detroit TruTrack and 4.10 gears.

Fuel system is a GT500 setup with one 40a bap and an 8 gauge power wire. Fuel injectors will be 2013 GT500 which are rated at 55lbs with a delta psi of 39.15. I think I have enough fuel system to make them flow 77lbs if necessary. That would be done by commanding a higher delta psi. They were so cheap that I know I can get my money back out of them if I need more injector.

I was really torn between the DOB kit and a KB kit... I do like the DOB kit, looking forward to following your build.

My main concern is iats. I plan to keep the boost low and hopefully keep the temps low too. Maybe I should just get a TVS now and save the trouble of doing it later? Lol.

Bruce,
Thanks for the info and good luck on your install. It certainly looks like you will have plenty of fuel for the planned power. Diamond pistons seem to be pretty popular. I am considering them for my 4.6 when I go forged. I am looking forward to you opinion on those pistons after you have had them in use with the sc. Do you think .003 ptb clearence will be tight enough to be quiet when cold?

I've been running them for about 4,000 miles and they are quiet. The alloy is 2618 so .003" is considered tight. I like to use 4032 pistons with minimum clearance but they just weren't available for a big bore. Diamond made these for me as a shelf item with 2 changes. Each change was $50. I needed a piston for a 3.701" bore with a 3v exhaust relief and 1.200" compression height. I also wanted flat tops. Diamond had the easiest process I could find for ordering a special piston so that's what I went with. It was as easy as calling cnc motorsports in Brookings, SD and placing the order. It took less than 5 minutes. The pistons took about 3 weeks iirc. I would of really liked something with a skirt coating like Manley but it just wasn't meant to be.

I did recently come across some Mahle big bore pistons with a 1.175" compression height that were made for Yates and the FR500C. The valve relief is for a 4v but that can be taken care of easily enough. I bought two sets of them, don't know why other than the price was right.

Swaintech can coat your other pistons. Quality stuff.

Gotta rehone the cylinders after though right?

The piston/cylinder clearance would need to be checked before assembly. Not worth doing after the fact. More for the other motors he is putting together, although it would add to the cost.

Kinda what I was thinking. Not a whole lot to gain if you didn't already need a rehoning.

Did you ever race with any of your setups?

I have. Only been to the track with a whipple and n/a. Haven't been there for 2 years. It's a 90 mile one way drive to the track I like. I'm going to make a point to make it this year.

Why do you ask?

90 miles? Which track is it? Mission raceway up here is probably about that far.

More parts rolled in today. I fabricated a -8 line that will work with the stock rail mounted on the passenger side. This picture is showing my testing process. The line is charged with about 100psi and no air is coming out. Once the test is done (I'll leave it for 24 hours) air will be rechecked and the end fittings will be installed. This line will go from the fuel line disconnect located on the drivers side by the fender to the relocated fuel rail on the passenger side. I could of easily bought fuel injector hose and reused the factory fittings but already had the line and two of the fittings.

The 2013 GT500 injectors came today. FYI for anyone who is thinking of buying these Ford has raised the prices to $50 each. They are still available on ebay for $220 or so per set of 8. Once the vendors figure out the price increase they might not be so cheap anymore.

I've also mounted the intercooler tank and found a place for the power steering pump reservoir. I think the next thing will be lengthening the frps and tb connectors. So far there hasn't been much of a problems getting parts or finding solutions. At some point the GT500 surplus parts market will dry up but right now the parts are all over the place for good prices.

The snout has been sent off to Jason for the quick change pulley conversion. I think all that's left to purchase is a few feet of hose from the auto parts store.
