It's not just that track, most tracks now require jackets for any non oem power adder regardless of ET.

Best place for cost savings is the RJS jackets from summit IMO...

That is a decision only you can make. You are the one who needs to be comfortable while driving. You can run an open face helmet up to 10.00 seconds. If you're 9.99 and quicker the new rules state closed face helmet only.

I'm glad to see the Gforce helmets are M2005 also. I guess I did get a killer buy on my HJC for $120 shipped and it is M2005 snell.

I don't skimp on safety now. Peter - I use nomex as well but was giving him the cheapest option)

My helmet was $475 and worth every penny...

Our track is requiring them for anything faster than 12.49 and a cage for 11.49 or faster along with a snell 2005 approved helmet for anything faster than 12.99.

That's almost everywhere.... I don't think I could ever put a cage in my street car... I always wear a helmet, but have never wore a jacket.

I normally just wear a helmet, but for some reason the tech guy there has a real hard-on for me. Gives me shit everytime and I have no idea why. I'll do a cage only if it can be semi-hidden and removable side and rear bar so I can still take my kids for a ride. I'll buy a fire jacket soon.

I wear fire retardent clothing for work purposes and I'm not a big fan of proban.
Proban is a chemical treatment which is applied to a cotton garment.
It loses its effectiveness after 30-40 washings.
It also loses its effectiveness depending on what is used to wash it.

Nomex is a permanently fire retardant Aramid fiber.
It is woven, or knitted into material, and since it is inherently fire retardant its protection does not diminish with time.

Maybe we should all drive electric cars just to be safe.










Just yankin' your chain... I think I've worn it only 5 or 6 times in the last year. And usually over another jacket that provided warmth.

Since we're talking about fire jackets I'll bring up anther point on clothing.
Even though we're not required to wear fire retardent pants at 10.00 and over we should still wear pants that will do the least amount of damage possible in the event of a fire.

The best material is cotton because when it burns it will burn away from the body.
Nylon, polyester and other man made fibers constrict and cling tightly to the body increasing injuries.

I have a friend who had an accident at work where a 12,000v line arced and he suffered 3rd degree burns to his chest, neck, and face.

Most of his injuries were caused not by the arc itself but by his nylon jacket which caught fire.
He was unable to extinguish it due to being temporarily blinded by the arc.

As far as helmets go, it doesn't matter if it is an "M", as long as its SNELL2005, it will pass tech.
