So I'm running Holeshot Holestars (15x10 w/ 325x50 and 15.4 w/ 27.5x4.5) with Mickey Thompson ET Street DRs.

I'm getting some wheel hop off the line (but not during burnout) and a pretty bad vibration after the 1/8, pretty much when going over 100mph. By the time I'm hitting the 1320, the dash is vibrating pretty good.

On the way home, with my street wheels/DRs, I hit 120mph and zero vibrations. So what gives? Should I have the wheels balanced?

Nha, they didn't get balanced.

Yeah... You should have them balanced. Just like any other wheels and tires.

Thanks for the input. Skinnies too, or just the rears? I'm stuck with them for the weekend, so I'll have it done next week. Just hope my dash doesn't come apart. :omfg:

Actually, I know a shop that may be able to do it for me in the AM before going to the track. I'll give that a try.

Balancing the rears is pointless IMO unless you use rim screws. The tire moves on the rim a little every pass, and would be out of balance almost immediately. I only balance the fronts.

Oh yea... make sure they use the hammer-on rim weights instead of the adhesive type. The adhesive type always hit my calipers.

I wasn't able to get them balanced today. Any other idea on why I'm getting vibrations over 100mph?

I had a bad vibration in mine at about 120+, and had the skinnies rebalanced. It went away then.

do they put the hammer ones on the inside part of the wheel ? because im afraid they would scratch the exterior face of the wheel

I'm going in for an alignment tomorrow anyway, so I'll just leave the Holeshots in the car and have them balance all of them to play it safe. I'll also tell them to use the hammer on type. Thanks for the inputs...

I only balance my fronts also.

Even with the rim screws I don't have the rear balanced. At 150mph I don't notice any vibration. Then again I'm really busy with other stuff!

They go on the backside of the wheel.

I still see no reason to balance the rears... but whatever.
