1. Can this damn thing be tweaked to act like a TB with a throttle cable?

2. Is there some sort of slew rate, rise time, etc. adjustment that you can make to give it better response?

3. Will there ever be a TB with a real throttle cable to replace this #!%^@@^@$@^@ drive by wire piece of shit?

I drove my old Dodge truck today and then drove my 'Stang. Dammit all to hell that the old truck has wonderful throttle response and the 'Stang does not! I may have to let the boys at HPP have another whirl at her to see if we can tune this bullshit out!

Thx,

Mike

This would be a great question for one of our resident tuners.

Joe? Doug?

i can vouch for Doug's tunes. his tweaking of the DBW system is so good, youd never know it was there. the slightest touch of the pedal and your gone.

Mike is running a Saleen SC tuned by HPP. They have a good rep, I bet they could tune the lag out of it.

That's what I would suggest. Maybe spend a little more time on the dyno trying to fine tune the DBW.

I personally would like to get some idle tuning reworked. There's always something you can change to benefit just a bit more.

I haven't had too many issues with my DBW, that is after they finally were able to tune it right LOL, lots of back and forth with SCT but I have a pretty good tuner in Savannah and he kept at it till he was happy with it. He actually had my car for 2 days while he worked it out but I have excellent throttle response now. And the best part was that he considered that his problem for not knowing how to tune that part right and didn't charge me for the 2 extra days of working on my car, just charged me for the inital dyno tune, then I told him my issues with the throttle response and he took the car back and worked it till it was right!

My problem isn't response it's when I let off the rpm seem to take its time coming back down. It acts like it needs a stiffer return spring. Dyno Joe is working on a new tune to try and fix the problem.

That is actually the computer doing the extended rpm stuff. Ford put that in there to improve emissions, or so I have heard/read on other forums.

You'd think that pulling your foot off the gas and closing the throttle plates all the way would improve emissions and save gas, but what do we underlings know about cars and such!!! FMC knows best!!!!

I wish someone would make a throttle body with a real throttle cable and matching gas pedal to replace this bullshit! This is one place where I think using electronics is going a bit overboard. JMHO and $0.02 worth!

Montreal Qc,
My JDM tune feels like a real throttle cable.
There's nothing I can knock their tune for really except that the gas milage isn't great.
My car hasn't seen the dyno since the S/C install so maybe there's room for a little improvement there.
I'm only talking about long distance highway milage since my heavy foot has more to do with the around town stuff.
I see we have beer chugs now:beer:

peter, of the few JDM tunes ive had a chance to drive and paly with, they seem to be on the rich side. that would also help to contribute to their track record with the motors not blowing up. i think its the guys who lean it out further that have the issues

Once I get the headers installed she's going to Evo Performance for a dyno tune. I'll talk to Fred about all the different things the car is doing so he can try and get it tuned right.

I thought I read some where that someone was trying to set a TB for cable. I might be wrong.
