!@#$%^&*(
i may have to hold on to my mach 500 disc then
8 bolt. My current motor is the first one I've had with a Forged crank. The clutch version I'm running came with a 26 spline clutch hub. It's technically for an older Cobra with a T-56. I chose it over the one for a s197 because it didn't come with a slave and was much cheaper that way. The money I saved allowed me to purchase a new Motorcraft slave.
AFAIK the difference is a slave and throw out bearing. IIRC I was able to resell the to bearing on ebay for about $30. I was advised that the generic slave had a tendency of failing so I opted for the Motorcraft version. However, plenty of people have had success with other brands too.
Removing the transmission isn't one of my favorite things to do so I opted to spend a little more for the Ford part.
But is there a difference in pressure plates between ours and the 99-04's? If not you could save $100 bucks and buy their kit instead and not replace the throwout/slave.
EDIT
I went through and checked the Ford part numbers, 99-10 GT's, Cobras, and Mach 1's use the exact same pressure plate. So you can order the 99-04 version which doesn't come with our slave cylinder and save $100 if you don't want to replace it, or if you want to buy one from Ford.

Okay, that's my plan then. I might go with this kit and then just get a Motorcraft slave and be done with it. Though I know you're using the 6060, Ill be on the 3650, shouldn't be any difference right?
The spline count on the clutch hub. You will need a 10 spline, not sure what the part number is but it's probably one digit of difference.
This would be the correct one I would need I believe. Says it's 10 spline.

Hold up, I'm confused...
Does the one for the 04's fit our cars?

The one for the 05-09's is $85 more.

If they are the same piece why the price difference?
It says right in the description the slave is not included.
(this will be my future clutch one day)
well either way, with AM discount or Amazon with 10 dollar shipping there both about the same (within $4-5 bucks), so I won't complain either way. I know sometimes it takes forever to get stuff from Amazon sometimes. Now I just need to get a 8 bolt flywheel..
Bruce, I really just noticed I jacked the thread lol, sorry buddy! Btw did you get your crank??
It also makes me question American Muscles clutch kits. The exedy part number 07805CSC is the Mach 400 clutch set. It comes with the slave included for about $350-$380 from most places. Now American Muscle sells the exact same thing minus the slave for $340. They then sell the exedy brand slave for $180. Now if the slave that comes with the kit is the same that they sell....what is that all about? Are they taking the slaves out of the kit and selling them on the side for ridiculous profit or is that an actual upgraded slave? Hmmm....
Adding to that, the fact that we use the same clutch disc and pressure plate as previous years means that the mach 400 kit they sell for late 01-04 for $254 is the EXACT same thing as the one they sell for almost $100 more for ours. Does something seem very off about that??? Or am I wrong?

Answer to this, please?
Have you asked the manufacturer or distributor like AM why they price them differently?
Provided the clutch spline count is the same they should be interchangeable. The one I used is a 07806 which isn't listed for s197 but it fit fine. I thought I had already stated this in an earlier post?
You may need to look at the manufacturer info and specs to answer your questions. The information is located at www.exedyusa.com
