I do all the ordering for the Ford store I work at. 8-10 weeks is normal 80% of the time. Some come sooner, some come later - for a variety of reasons outside the dealer's control. Most orders sit in the queue with no VIN for several weeks. Totally normal.

OP, was you order type a "1"? If so, the only possible priority codes are 10-19. Order type "2" is stock units for dealer inventory with priority codes ranging from 20-80.

There was very little April production so your car was likely caught in the factory slow down. As others have said, since you have a VIN and ETA the car will be built and shipped for sure. There is no way for the dealer to speed it up at this point in the process.

My "Dora" says order type 01 on it. Not sure if that is what you are referring to.

I was told that the Factory just re-opened 1-2 Monday's ago, so scheduling will take place in the next couple of weeks. My Build date is estimated to be around 5/15/14. I'm confused as to why it takes another 35+ days to get to the dealer after it is built (I know the reasoning, but, I don't agree 100% with it)

The dealer had no issue cashing my deposit check literally the very next day and also had no problem asking me to not drive my trade in and keep miles off of it so they can still honor the trade in in a month or so.

When we were writing the check, he said he will have a VIN in 2 weeks MAX and because they have a 25 year running Customer Service Award from Ford, they may get the car sooner.

I do realize that is is "normal" but, I was not expecting the dealer to lack the knowledge they apparently are and be off nearly 6 weeks for the delivery of my car.

I am hoping they get it sooner since they already have cash in hand from my deposit, will have my car to sell in the next 1-2 weeks when I trade it in so they don't screw me on the offer.

I'll continue to remain patient, but, I just hate seeing/reading these stories where guys got their cars in 4-5 weeks with just as many options as my car, etc.

My GT took 12 weeks due to limited GHIG color runs. Dealerships don't have issues cashing checks lol. What I did as they can't officially offer cash for the trade till car comes in, I made them sit on my trade in there lot for 12 weeks so if an issue happened to car its there issue. Of course had to still keep insurance on car. I just used my jeep I off road with till the car came in. Sucked as it was in the summer and AC in my jeep sucks and you will still sweat your balls off in it.

I'm sorry but don't believe everything you read. I know some guys have gotten their cars lightening fast, but I've also called out many guys who were full of shit. Why lie about how fast your car was built? IDK, maybe to put others under the bus and show off "luck" - Either way just sit patient and your car will arrive.

I remember back in 2000 when I ordered my first Harley. Took almost 6 months to get it. These days Harley dealerships and flooded with any and every model you could want. Funny how times change.

Grabber, the one thing your dealer did wrong was in not properly managing your expectations. They should have made it painfully clear to you the day you ordered that most orders take 8-10 weeks, while some come earlier and some come later. I've had special orders take as long as 11 months (long story - factory issue) and as quick as 16 days. By the way, that 16 day truck was a freak occurance, never again duplicated at our dealership. Today, a super fast turnaround from date of order to delivery is about 4-5 weeks, but again that is very rare. The vast majority are 8-10 weeks.

Question for the dealer guys.

Is it normal for the Dealer to create an ad listing on their website for the car someone ordered that is not yet built?

That seems shady to me, but, I'm not going to jump to conclusions. What do you guys think? Technically if someone came in and said they want to buy this, even though I already have a deposit on it, legally, can the dealer sell the car I ordered? What happens if I trade my car in the next week and the car is still advertised for sale after I signed the deal?

Trying to get my facts straight, so, thank you again guys.

I don't quite understand. It is normal for vehicles to show up in a dealers inventory on there website while the vehicles are in transit. If it is not built yet? Not really possible. If a vin has been acquired it is possible for it to show up early. I don't see it happen many times but it could thesibly happen.

If your vehicle shows up in their inventory, that's not a problem since obviously a part of their vehicle stock until you formally purchase it. If you put a non refundable deposit in and they sold it under you that's obviously a legal problem since they took your money. Not to mention it's unethical.

Any idea what the differences are between those model years? More power, options, etc?

The 12+ came with a Torsen front diff and the 13+ came with the option of the Beadlock wheels, the incredibly awesome HID projector lights, and the glorious myford touch system. For 2014 you can get the special edition package in black or the new addition of ruby red metallic which includes a baller status two tone interior, and other effects.

No problem. I just remember the Off-Road nuts around here making a big deal about the front camera when it came in 2012.
