I know there are aftermarket companies that make bracket/disc upgrade kits.. but the 8.8 was widely used, has anyone found a Ford vehicle that used larger and retro-fitted?

I dont believe anything running the same lug pattern would have a larger rotor.

question is why would you want it if they did ? The s197 has plenty of rear brake like it is .

gt40 is larger but doubt it would work

what is the brake bias of these cars anyway? Dont the rear brakes account for less than 15-20% of the stopping force as it is?

That was the aftermarket set I was looking at.

I will be perfectly honest... its not a performance thing. Having the open 20's with Brembo's upfront, I have other stang guys, subie guys, and even some of my non-car savvy female friends asking whats up with the brakes.

We won't listen to someone that has such small rear brakes that the wheel hub is larger then the rotor. :p

Figured a factory setup, if it exists could be done cheaper, and if someone was going to know larger brakes it's the corner carving section.

The rear brakes do work (as in they do more work than you think) on these cars. Many guys go through rear pads quicker than fronts, and since the weight distribution is more balance than previous pony cars, along with the electronic brake distribution, works the rear brakes more than historically common in pony-cars.

And of course the stock rears do look pretty stupid, like they should be on a Honda. Only worse with more open wheels and bigger front brakes.

Sam in the link you posted it shows that they come with rear brake lines. Do those have to be used? I already have goodridge lines. I was looking into to these since Ill be doing some winter projects soon. Thanks

That is one of the other things about that package.. I already have stainless lines F&R (Thanks again Sam!)... and if the rears are slotted, I'd have to match the fronts

The calipers move, so you need the longer brake lines, which is why they are included. :) As for matching the fronts, just so happens that I have some DBA's on special. 2000 series for the stock GT brakes, and some 2000, 4000, and various 5000 series for the Brembo's. Please note that I do NOT have these on the website as of yet, it's pretty involved to do it (which sucks) but I have rotors to "match" should you go that way.

If you want large good looking rear brakes. Check out BAER. I have a Super Snake that has the 6Ps system front and rear. I know the rears are overkill, but they look way cool with the SS 20" Alcoa wheels. The car stops great on the track, but I think the rear brakes have a small piece in this. I have about a 2:1 front to rear pad replacement ratio. Same with rotors.
