I know mine is about 6750 and it pulls hard to that limit. I took out the sound pipe and installed Lloyds thick carpets so hitting the rev limit is not hard. I would love to increase it in some way to 7000 without a tune. Maybe it can be done in Forscan.

I would not advise pushing your luck...for a lousy 250 rpm.

Do all tunes hold to 6750rpm?
AFAIK, some will go as high as 7000, or 7200. Then they wonder why the eng grenades, or the oil pump blows it's brains out, etc, etc.

A good 91/93 tune would provide for ample power. LT's and a tune would add a lot of power. Want more power, then a PD blower would suffice. Trying to achieve more power by pushing the rpm to the moon will work, but it's not generally advised.

If you want to run that high of rpm you might as well swap to an 18+ intake and oil pump gears or else you’re wasting your time. That intake will actually make power up there.

So your saying a 91/93 tune keeps the rev at 6750? Would that be canned or custom?

I believe it's 6800rpm and with peak HP coming in at 6500rpm, it would be pointless revving the engine past 7000.
With a CAI, '18+ intake manifold, LT headers, and tune, the engine would make peak HP at ~7000rpm and you could raise the rev limiter to 7500rpm. However you run the risk of eventually damaging the cam phasers with repeated high rpm pulls, and bouncing off the rev limiter can break the oil pump gears. Upgrading to billet oil pump gears provides some insurance against potentially catastrophic engine damage.

The SCT X3 and X4 allows you to see and adjust the rpm limit.
While it appears that it does, it does NOT work. Been there. The limit set under EOT (EngineOilTemp) protection is 6850rpms. This needs to be raised before the X4 can adjust actual rev limit past 6850rpms.

I was at WGI, and going down into the "laces" I would hit the rev limit heading into the "toe" of the boot in 3rd gear.(not enough time to shift to 4th&back to 3rd) Upped the limit with my X4 and NO CHANGE. I have since then raised the EOT limit to 7500 rpms in the tune and set limit with X4 to 7200 when loading the tune. Tested and confirmed, data logged revs past 7K

Ps:there is also the mechanical limit of the stock crank trigger wheel. IIRC, the signal breaks down near 8000rpms if your engine can rev there. Need to upgrade the trigger wheel behind the flywheel if you want to rev past 8K

Just set the rev limiter to 8,000 on the stock engine and let it rip, I'd put a shift light in so it's blazing in your eyes over 7700.

lots of people have gotten very rich selling oil pump gears

rip it and go! It's just a 5 point oh

Funny Guy. My 3 Valve won’t be going anywhere near 8,000 RPM. My rev limit is set at 6,900 and my shift light is set at 6,600. It does in fact rev that high. The OP can hook an X3 or X4 to his car and see exactly where the rev limit is set.

Dead serious, you cannot raise the rev limit on a 2014 5.0 beyond 6850 with just an x4. That does not apply to the 3v. My post is specific to 2013-14 coyote tuning. The copperhead pcm. Not the spanish oak.

VMP had the rev limit increased to 6500 on my 2010 auto. I used the X3 and turned it back down to 6250. Once in a while the auto hits the rev limiter when doing the 3-4 upshift. VMP unlocked the X3...and tweaked it so I can raise / lower the 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, 4-5 shift points a bit. So just lowered the 3-4 shift point 1 notch, problem solved.

Yrs ago, manually shifted into 2nd gear..and a street race...downhill, I hit the rev limiter. Didn't realize the entire tach lights up red ! That's an eye opener..at night. Hitting the rev limiter with the blower on is another eye opener.

It's second gear in passing that I hit the rev limiter and it's completely by surprise. No fall off of power and no slight change in sound. It could be 6750 or might be 6850. It feels like someone just reached over and turned off the key.

As I said, unless the custom tune had the EOT rev limit raised, the x4 may look like rev limit is set to 7200. The actual limit will still be the 6850rpms. The x4 cannot adjust this. This has to be done with Advantage lll software.
