In the market for new daily driver tires. Looking at the General G-Max AS-03 and while it ranks good on tire rack, the user reviews are really hit or miss wherever I've searched. Either they love them or they got really noisy, wore prematurely or unevenly, etc. Obviously there's some user error involved, but looks like there's more to it when you compare reading reviews of similar class tires. I can see this tire in a big size being susceptible to noise by its tire tread design, but still...

Anyone got some feedback in running a "bigger" set of these? I'm looking at 275/40/18's myself. Sizes and mileage appreciated in your posts.

Thanks

I was looking at the same tires because I live in Florida (obscene amounts of rain) and they ranked well for wet traction. I, too, read the mixed reviews and eventually came across the Continental DWS tires. I'm currently running them in 265/35 and 275/40 and am loving them. They're a few bucks more, but totally worth it. FWIW, I only have about 3k miles on them so far, but I love them. If they don't have the size you're looking for in the DWS (dry/wet/snow) tires, they make a few more sizes in their DW (dry/wet) line.

if they last like the old general grabber UHP

Then I would buy them
I had them on 2 cars
#1 Wife car 2001 Audi TT ate tires bad for 4 years till i got the Generals 17" they are still on the car, nice and quit tire also
#2 My old car 2002 GTP 18" (245/50/18) I drove 140 round trip everyday, I sold the car and my son put them on his car.

Tires wore well and performed well.

Ryan, go with the DW next time I garuntee you wont be dissapointed. Ive driven on both the dws and dw (different cars). The DW is amazing in the rain.

The DWS are on my list of decisions, but they are approaching $200 more than the Generals. I can't find anything less than stellar reviews and test results for that tire aside from the sidewalls being a little mushier than desired. I understand that's going to be the trade off for comfort so I may just have to bite the bullet.

Since this is going to be my daily driver tire, "comfort" and "quiet" are on the top of my list for requirements. That makes me lean towards the DWS, but I'd figured I'd take a shot at talking to people with the Generals in my size.

Thanks and keep it coming, folks.

I had the General G-Max on my G6, though not a Mustang it was still a decent grippy all season tire and didn't have the soft sidewall feeling that you get with the continental DWS. I will say that I did get some minor road noise with the generals, but nothing more than what you get with the factory pirelli's. These tires don't seem to wear down too fast either and are excellent in the rain.

What sizes where you running? How many miles did you run them?

I have not. Thanks. I'm looking into them now. Not sure why, but I just never took Nittos too seriously even though my current car came with 555's on it. I know they are big in the drag racing world, but I kinda always saw them as a boutique tire.
