I've previously owned 2 Mustangs. I've had an 05 GT and an 07 GT. I sold the 07 about 7 years ago after getting a company car (no car payment is sweet) and my wife being pregnant with our son.

Luckily, I'm now in a place to add a Mustang to the driveway as a secondary vehicle.

Price range wise I want to stay under $35k, and I've narrowed my choices down to a current generation GT, a 2012 Boss 302, or an 08/09 GT500.

I like the technology and IRS of the current generation, but since it won't be a daily, going with something a bit more rare like the 302 or gt500 would be really cool. I might track it every now and then, but I'm not trying to build the fastest thing I can either.

I've been out of the car game for a while. So I haven't kept up with the finer points of Mustangs in quite some time. Any recommendations or things I should at least look out for while looking at these 3?

Given those choices, I would easily go with the Boss. Not sure if you can get one in good condition for <$35k though. Good 13/14 GTs are in the upper $20K-lower 30K range right now.

I've seen quite a few 302s around 60k miles in the 32k range, give or take.

My only concern with rhe 302 or gt500 is getting one that somebody has beat the living hell out of

Another vote f/ Boss 302, if you can find one in this price range. :D

I had a 2014 GT TrkPac and really loved it although I made the mistake of modifying more for corner carving that a good road car, so sold it and bought a 19GT PP1/A10 and did some minor mod’d. The 19 had more power stock than my 14 mod’d and the 19 was an excellent road car. I guess the difference is the 14 was more raw and the 19 was more civilized. I’ll try and describe it this way, I took the 14 on a road trip, 1300 miles in 2 days, and when I reached my destination I was tired and really wanted to get out of the car. I took the exact same road trip in my 19 and I wasn’t tired at all, in fact I could have gotten back in the car and driven the 1300 miles back home.
