Are you going to put the inner door panels back on? If not, just cut the inside metal out and leave the exterior skin. Picture below is not mine. It is from "Chris' GT Build" here in S197forum.

Yeah haven't made that decision yet. I'm currently working on getting my heater core out and it looks like I really don't want to have to reassemble the hvac just for the luxury of air conditioning. Though we will see.

20.8 POUNDS! Yeah I don't think I'll be putting this back into the car. Blower motor was surprisingly heavy.

Yes!!!! Hard work starting to pay off!! 30.4 POUNDS!! Rear seat. Back deck and side armrest and plastics. Rear seatbelts. The main rear rear is not included. I already took that out and it's in my shed. I will be installing some sort of " barrier so some weight will be added.
All in all that's over 50 POUNDS with the hvac taken out today. Time for a beer!

Btw. Not including my saw!

Lmfao! I was into bmx when I was younger. I bought a frame and built my own bike. I got that thing under 20 pounds fully assembled. I cost me a summer of work, but at the time I thought it was awesome.
I don't know what's realistic for a s197 car as far as weight, but in going to find out!

Weight Reduction so far.....

Rear evap assembly. 12.1 lbs

Carpet/padding. 20.4 lbs

Sound deadening crap(so far). 2.3. lbs

Passenger air bag. 6.4. lbs

Driver air bag. 1.2 lbs

Wiper Assembly. 9.4 lbs

HVAC system. 20.4 lbs

Rear seat/deck lid/seat belts. 30.4 lbs

A/C delete. 25.1 lbs.

TOTAL so far..... 128.1 lbs!!

Still working on my doors. Lots of weight still to shed in other places as well. Will be adding some weight like for a barrier between driver and trunk area. Thinking of a aluminum sheet to cover the rear seat area.
Also looking into relocating alt. to a/c compressor location. It may not be in the budget but would be nice not having it up high on the engine.

Front crash bar is 10.1 pounds. Will grind off the plates tonight and weight them. Will buy or fab up a bar to support front end from collapsing under wind load.

You don't need that bar to support the nose if you have a splitter attached to the bumper cover and the radiator support. I've tested that up to 208mph.:omfg:

Any ideas on what switches you're going to run? Are you making new circuits for every accessory?

This is what I have so far. There will be a third row at bottom. Going to put in some more thought and work and see what else I need on the panel. I'll be moving my mirror joystick to it as well.

Edit. Yes new circuits for each as well!

Edit: Not doing this anymore. 9/20/17

UPDATE!!!!

Well. I'm not going with a DOB GT450 kit anymore. I've sold a lot of what I had off and will be saving up for a R-SPEC manifold from DOB. Car will be down for at least this year. It will give me time to save for the kit. As everyone knows, reliable power is not cheap. My car needs a paint job so I will be stripping it down to the chassis and rolling it to a paint shop.
Then adding only the parts back on that I want on. Just off the top of my head I will probably make it a flex fuel system with E85 and another smaller tank for 93 octane for ease of mind when I can't find E 85. We will see. I will throw up build list if I have time but I decided not to return to stock and sell. Gonna build me a reliable fun street car instead.

As it sits today. Going to pull engine in a day or two and disassemble for new internals.

Nice update. I am excited for you on the R-Spec. I hope to be ordering my GT450 manifold in about a year.

Thanks. I'm in the middle of pulling engine now. You won't have any problems with Jason at DOB. Customer service is top notch. I didn't go with the 450 manifold simply because I know I'll want more power down the road and if I'm going to spend my time on it I want it done so I can't upgrade down the road. R Spec it is then.
