I'm looking to purchase either of the following setup and need help deciding.

Setup 1:
20x8.5 et30 with 275/35/20
20x10.5 et43 with 275/35/20

http://www.latemodelrestoration.com...ng-FR500-Wheel-Kit-20x85-10-Matte-Black-05-14

Setup 2:
20x10.5 et43 square with 275/35/20 squared.

Concerns with setup 1, 275 is too wide for 8.5 wheel.

Concerns with setup 2, 10.5 might not clear brembos and/or won't fit in the front?

Help me out guys!

Post the exact wheel you're looking at.

It's also cooper zeon rs3-s which I think tend to run narrower than most summer tires.

The rears are 10" not 10.5", 10" square set ups work IIRC.

A 275 is a tad big for a 8.5" wheel.

275s are a little wide for a 8.5. 255s are perfect, I had 255 on my 8.5, and they looked just right.

I dunno, title says 20x10, in the description says 10.5.

So if it's 20x10, will it clear brembos?

no it doesn't, they may clear, you should check with LRS to be sure, my guess is they will not.

With 10's or 10.5's you should be looking at a 285/30-20 minimum or even a 285/35-20 square.

I actually don't really like the "staggered" look.

I don't mind if the wheels/tires are staggering but don't like how the back wheels looks different than the fronts like they do on the FR500s.

What's the benefit of a wider rim? Only that you can mount wider tires right?? Nothing else??

The thing is that a 275 crammed on an 8.5" will bulge a bit at the sidewall, and a 275 stretched onto a 10.5" in the rear will look like it's too narrow for the wheel. Even though your tires aren't staggered the wheels are.

If you want to run the same size tire at all corners you should run the same sized wheels otherwise they'll look totally different.

Why so skinny? Squared 10's would go a lot better with 275's.

because my plans have changed for the car as it will be now 98% weekend cruiser and 2% Track car.

So no need to max best bang for $$$ performance upgrade.

So felt like 8.5 was adequate and the slight bulge will help with curb rash? lol?

I saw some 275's on the 8.5 and there was almost no bulge.

Most modern tires have a wheel protection rib to help against curbing and you may only be saving $40-80 by going with the skinnier wheels depending on where you're shopping. I'd personally go square 10", but it's ultimately your choice.

I think my 285's look just about right on my factory 9.5" wheels in the rear, putting tires that are only .4" narrower on a 1" narrower wheel will make the bulge even more evident. If you want 8.5's just run 255's and really save some money.
