Hey guys I work for a race team that runs FR500C's from grand am in trans am road racing. The cars came with a very restricted tune to compete in there class and we are looking to tune them and increase power as trans am allows us to have more power.

I figured I would ask on here and see if anyone has any info on being able to communicate with the pcm in these cars, the pcm seems to be completely locked out by ford. SCT is currently looking at one of the pcm's for us but hopefully somebody on here might have some info as well. We are on a time crunch so looking every place I can for info. Thanks.

Nope, thanks for the recommendation but this is out of the SCT scope as I've read for now. It uses what looks like EEC-V hardware (like up to 04 mustangs and 05-06 FGT) but not a common protocol, read somewhere some time ago this was done to avoid calibration manipulation, sincerely don't know. FR500S OTOH use a common 07 hardware/custom cal.

I will ask someone in FB that owns/races one what has he done.

Well, the person who owns the car is looking for exactly the same thing so maybe we closed the circle and we are left out without any answers, lol.

Yes, everyone is trying to figure it out right now. Right now VMP and SCT have one of our pcm's and the head engineer at sct is looking into it so hopefully he can comeup with something.

We are trying to get more power out of it before heading to road america on the week of the 16th. I might be getting a cobra/ mach 1 pcm and harness and going from there for now. Have another tuner that says he will make it happen with all that.

Thanks for the recommendations though guys.

At the end is an EEC-V, the thing is what hardware version they used for that, would not be too weird if there is just not CAN/SCP wire provisions to try to avoid flashing from the GA era.

One of our pcm's has some wires soldered from the pins to a point on the board and that is the one sct is looking at. I know ford was able to plug right into them and change mapping right on the spot in grand am as our race team received the first fr500 ever produced. Ford was with the team every step of the way during the first season making many changes. Trying to figure out how to communicate with the pcm is the main thing right now. I will be calling ford soon to discuss the different control pack options they had to see what we can come up with.

It's definitely a task trying to get into one of the grand am pcm's so going to have to try and find a solution with different hardware most likely until sct can get things figured out. They can definitely figure it out but its just a matter of when.
