I am going to call today and see what it will cost today with adding long tube headers. I know the cam is asking for a higher gear and I am not for sure what gears I have now since i bought the car used. But I am thinking i have 3.73 gears since alot of people saying that those gears wine.. Not for sure on how to check if they are.
Your car already has 3.55s skip the 3.73s and get 4.10s. It would be a waste to get 3.73s. My friend has a manual and hotrods. He said it's a little bit of a PITA to drive in traffic with the hotrods. I have Comp NSR stage 2. Granted they don't have the lope of the hotrods but driveablility is near stock and according to the butt dyno, I did pick up some hp.

Yes when I do the cam and gears this spring i will be doing the 4.10 gears. I was thinking that there maybe the 3.73's in there now because of the whinning sound. I would like to check and see what kind of gears I have to see if they are the 3.55's or the 3.73's

See what exact rpm's you are at at say 65 or 70 mph, and post it up.

Most likely, you could find out by comparion of those who know which gears they are running I would imagine.

I will do this on my way home today from work. I think I will post both 65 and 70mph..

go to google. There's a site that allows you to input tranny ratio, rpms, and tire size to get the rear gear ratio.

That's weird. If your tires are around stock height around 27" and you had 3.55s at 2200 RPMS your car would be at 73-74 in 5th and at 2500 your car would be at 83-84 in 5th. With 3.73s at 2200 the car would be at 70 MPH and at 2500 the car would be at 80.

I am not running stock tires. When I bought the car it came with 245/45/17 so I am not for sure if that plays in with it.

245/45/17 is only a 25.68" tire. Did you correct you revs per mile? Your revs per. mile should be 810.

i had 3.73s' in my car (white 06 in the video i posted) and they NEVER whined at all.. if your rear end is whining its not because of the gear ration, its because they werent installed correctly. OR they are just old maybe? i sold my car w/ 46k on it and those gears never whined.

and doing your header install yourself will save you a ton of $$.. i did mine, it was VERY easy, took me 6.5hrs all by myself, and you dont need any special tools to do it.
