I have a 2005 4.6 I added the ford performance Ford Performance Hot Rod Performance Camshafts from American muscle, ported the heads and have it Dino tuned ended up with 30hp less. I checked the compression and average 110psi. I just had the valve all regroups and lapped. Just wondering if the cam is advancing the to much and opening the exhaust before TDC. I have the car Dino befor the cam swap and was 293 after cam and porting was 162. Talk about a disappointment. Any opinions ?
Does phaser eliminators keep it retarded or advanced?

Hot Rods shouldn’t reduce static compression. Have you down a leak down test? Have you checked if the cams are timed correctly?

You don’t want to run those cams with limiters or lockouts as they were designed to work with the phasers, but you can. If you lock the VCT, you will lose a lot of low and mid range torque. But this probably wouldn’t solve your static compression issues.

Have you pulled the cover to verify engine timing? Sometimes they jump a tooth on initial start up.

Yes timing was good I’m putting the old phasers back on now. New ones look a little different. I’ll keep you 2 posted thanks for the input

OEM/Motorcraft phasers?

the revised phasers have a different spring pack and look smaller, but it’s the most recent version.

So I put the stock phasers in and compression went up to average 135. I bought a different compression checker and went up to 185 average timing is spot on with new chains. Really baffling me. The spring tensioner location is different the stock are back on the new ones are off.

Fords newest phasers have a smaller/redesigned spring on the phaser, so that’s normal.

If you are getting 185 PSI in each hole, that’s about right, assuming it’s balanced and even across each cylinder
