Your right there are 1000's of factors that come into play. The only thing I know about that procharged car is that it was intercooled on 8psi and tha da's were in the 1300 range (my best passes have been made in 1500+ da's). I don't know what bolt-ons it had or how high he was shifting. I just know that his friends were laughing at him when I beat him n/a. He had 5k in that procharger kit without the tune. The turbo kit I want is an on3 which I hope won't cost me more than 3k.

Yes and your bare block cost as much as I paid for my blower. I am not saying you can't go fast N/A, but take your engine and add a blower and you could be running 9's. The only thing to limiting a stock 3v with a blower from running significantly faster than say the 10.8's mine ran is the shitty rods and pistons.
My aluminum block was 2800. At the time. You can make the same power with a 1600. Iron block and add what 70lbs.? BTW my car isn't gutted at all see sig.

He said he is looking to spend 3500. Any new blower kit is 4500 or more.

My complete kit from Brenspeed was $3800 and it's since come down to $3599.

I am well aware that you can make the same power with an iron block, which is exactly why I bought the Iron big bore block. I never said anything about your car being gutted, also 11.3's aren't nearly or almost 10's, I am not saying anything bad about your car or the path you took in building it.

I really think you are missing the point most of us were making about the blowers, which is that with a blower and tuning on a bone stone stock engine you will spend less, and still run faster than if you had installed heads, cams, headers, and all other bolt on's.

If your talking cheap then just change plugs, throw on a 150 shot, tune it, and run low 11's on slicks. Way cheaper than a blower and 99% of guys on here would never use enough nitrous to add up to $3500. Swarzkopf was that cost after the tune and what other bolt-ons do you have? Oh and I just picked up a set of hooker ceramic coated lt's for $170. Just saying.

This is off-topic, since we were comparing N/A builds to blower builds, but I'll humor you. To do it right, you're talking $1200 into a nitrous setup (assuming new parts- before you start throwing used prices around, let's remember that you can buy blower kits used too) when you factor in a window switch, bottle warmer, remote bottle opener, blow down tube, etc. I like nitrous and use it on one of my others cars and on a previous Mustang, but it has some real disadvantages compared to a blower as a primary power adder. It has some advantages, too, of course, but my point is that there are other things to consider besides bottom line price.

- I never have to refill my Novi 1200
- It's a lot easier on my drivetrain than nitrous
- It's more consistent
- The power is always there when I want it
- I don't have to worry about purging lines before parking the car to damage solenoids, or accidently spraying while the car is off, ect (it's easier to care and feed, basically)
etc

Yes, if you want to go as fast as possible at the track for as little money as possible, hitting the engine with a big shot and getting it to hook is your best bet. For most other guys, there are other considerations.

Swarzkopf was that cost after the tune and what other bolt-ons do you have?

Brenspeed included a tune and X3 in the $3800 package. I did spend $300 on SCT Pro Racer so I could self tune. Besides that, I've got a $200 meth injection kit, a $130 off-road mid-pipe, $200 Steeda IMRC deletes, a $120 TurboXS BBV....and I guess that's about it. All parts were bought brand new. Edit: Forgot, I just bought used Steeda LCAs for $50 on here too.

Before the self tuning, meth injection, off-road mid-pipe, and TurboXS BBV the car went 12.40 at 111 MPH.

To me, going with forced induction made the most sense. My car is still very, very mild mannered on the street when I want it to be- starts up right away and easily, drives smoothly, etc, and delivers (to me at least- it's all a matter of perspective) pretty serious power when I want it to. 40 MPH roll ons into WOT are stupid fun for me, as it makes peak boost right away and storms off. The installation was retardedly simple compared to stuff I've done in the past (headers, cams, ect).

Keep in mind, too, that being boosted gives me a lot more room for growth at this point also. The same mods you can do to an N/A 3V will benefit my car even more- a set of headers, blower cams, an FRPP intake manifold, gears, a stall, ect should yield huge gains for me if I ever do them.

To each his own, of course, but I made the right choice for me.

It was really just a question as I was curious. I know that blowers can be bought used just like nitrous kits. I have exactly $200 in my Zex kit. I don't have a lot of the extra's but I don't need them either. I don't mind refilling once every couple of weeks it gives me a chance to bs with the local dyno crew plus nitrous is only $4 a lb here. Yes the initial hit can be tuff on a motor and if not properly tuned it can cause havoc. But so can a blower. If you turn your bottle off after you get out you never have to worry about it firing while the car is off. Can selonoids fail? Yes just like blower belts can get tore up. All of the n/a parts help nitrous as well. Nitrous never gets heat soaked. Nitrous is very consistent if bottle pressure is maintained and you monitor your launch, making it the same every time. I'm only on a 100 shot right now and plan on going to a 150 down the road. Just like you are probably planing on dropping pulley size. In both cases the stock bottom end will be pushed to the limit. It is personal preference when it comes to fi. Budget does also effect it as well. I'm horrible at saving money thus the appeal of bolt-ons. One by one they are cheap and most can be had at awesome deals. Guys that buy blowers are either good at saving or get quarterly bonuses (usually). No bonuses for me so I, like many people out there, can only do one mod at a time. And the fact that most people don't keep cars more than a couple of years at a time plays an effect on that too.

Oh and just curious as to what tires you run also? Street tires, dr's, or slicks? Your car does do well on 8 psi much better than the procharged car that's running around here.

i have been wanting to do my stang NA but seems the best way after reading everones post for the $$ is to to put a blower on it. But i have really been thinking about a STS for mine. Not trying to start anything but what does everyone think about a sts system or should i do blower. I have full exhaust, cold air, underdrive pulleys and a 75 shot on it now. What would u guys say would be better STS Turbo or a blower or do a NA?

STS=FAIL , no not really but definitely is not the better kit out there. You can get a good on them though because of it lol. If you are going to remain on your stock internals for a while or don't have the money to get a new one soon I suggest going with a centri style supercharger or go crazy n/a for now. Or just save up the money and you might just change your mind and get a new stang lol.

I have to say that the sts would be my last option for fi. An on3, hellion, kb, roush, whipple, then novi would be the options for fi I would use if I went fi only.

I'd say pm Beefcake on a Vortech or Paxton. I had a chance to buy a slightly used STS for $1900 shipped but eventually passed. I like the innovation in the setup but there were too many drawbacks for me. Some of them being the scavange oil pump and associated lines, air filter located by the rear wheel, and all that piping.

Depends on the type of FI vs N/A or N/A+N2O. PD blowers, centri's, and turbo's all weigh different, but the torque they produce pulls more than it's own weight. Wild guess would be 50-75lbs all piping/mounting hardware/fluids included. The only car I find ridiculous in it's FI power vs weight is that pile Shelby made (the GT350). 4,100lbs. At least the camaro can claim cubic inches, but that's one fatass mustang to be sure!

Some blower combo's can add close to 100 lbs. Turbos aren't far behind ranging from 65-80. Nitrous adds the least but also evolves the least amount of parts going from 35-60 lbs depending on bottle size (25for a full 10lber and 35 for a full 15lber) and nitrous extras.

I was planning on going N/a at first as well. I had the cams retainers and springs and then was looking into getting a set of heads but by the time I would've had everything installed and tuned I would've been a couple hundred bucks shy of my brenspeed vortech which I have now. I feel like I wasted money on all of the N/a parts but hey it's your car you do what you feel is best an what you want. That's what I did. Any performance mod is money well spent.
