I bought this Torsen unit from a member of SVT performance and was going to have it installed at the same time as my new gears but the installer discovered I was sent the wrong center block. It looks like the correct part but it is too big for the diff. It does not fit inside the cradle. I had contacted Torsen and sent them pics but they said it was the correct part. I think they would need to see it in person. Unfortunately for me the guy I purchased it from (Bob Clayton) claimed he knew nothing of this because that is how his mechanic sent it to him when he had it removed. I paid 475 for it and can't seem to find a source for the center block section. The rest of the unit is good though. I'm not giving this away but make me an offer.

I don't understand. This was removed from an 8.8" rear end but it doesn't fit in an 8.8? What needs to be purchased or modified?

according to the op, the center block does not fit in the diff (it goes in the center similar to the round blocks in the older posi units). crazy....

This may be stupidest post ever.. looks like it slides in then screws in.. but the way you have teh screw does not match the side where there is space to tighten from... have you flipped it around, maybe its not perfectly square?

and/or

That internal gear looks like its drifted towards the center, can it be pushed backed to outter edge which gives the room?

Yup looks like the guy I bought it from sent me the wrong center block. The stainless center cradle moves left to right to accommodate the block but top to bottom it does not. It is a fixed length. The block is just not the right size by about an 8th on each side. The block is supposed to go in and then screwed in. Torsen calls it a Thrust Plate . A couple of days ago I was given the idea of milling it down to size in order to fit. If no one purchases it then I think I might just do that.
P.S. you are correct that i took a picture with the screw on the wrong side.
